But really the reason I've stepped away is just the reliability. It's way too on / off. For no apparent reason. This is what I'd thought. Obviously the module is heading in the right direction, but from my perspective before they go an grab more money from people selling a module (obviously this is why they are bringing it out now, making sales instead of fixing the product) I'd like to see them be 'geniune' and put their time into making the thing just work properly before going and making more product variants. Anywho I'm an analog supporter, I like being able to still fly with my black and white haze. Here's the big take aways: * This will be a true digital signal not AHD (analog high definition). * Original groundstation will still work. Old cameras (Runcam Racer HD) and VTXs will be replaced. * Module will work in prior Fat Shark goggles as well as other 3rd party goggles. * Fits tightly in the case even with a Crossfire module ... so will go into the old headtracking compartment? This all also comes as Drone Mesh released a recent video hinting at the possibility of a DJI goggle module. So given how Fat Shark has been nothing but reactive lately (i.e., Byte Frost in response to DJI; HDO2 in response to Orqa), I wouldn't be surprised if they are under some duress to release this. • Posts: 21,189 Threads: 582 Likes Received: 8,930 in 6,606 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 (10-Feb-2020, 07:56 PM)the.ronin Wrote: So given how Fat Shark has been nothing but reactive lately (i.e., Byte Frost in response to DJI; HDO2 in response to Orqa), I wouldn't be surprised if they are under some duress to release this. Which is a bad thing because that means it will just end up being yet another cobbled together rushed out beta product where corners have been cut. You can go first...again I'll wait for v2.0. Bad, I know. I totally agree with your sentiment hence the lack of enthusiasm in the update. You pretty much summed up my entire experience with Byte Frost. Add to this the nonchalant nature, we-know-better-than-you-so-like-what-we-give-you hallmark that is Fat Shark, and I just find it hard to get enthused, call me crazy. • Posts: 1,197 Threads: 59 Likes Received: 592 in 395 posts Likes Given: 210 Joined: Mar 2019 Reputation: 42 (10-Feb-2020, 09:26 PM)the.ronin Wrote: I was hesitant to post the update since I am trying to unload my v1 gear right now LOL. I feel for you man, I'm in somewhat the same boat with FrSky, but atleast I have a kinda working product lol. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 10-Feb-2020, 11:44 PM (This post was last modified: 10-Feb-2020, 11:49 PM by the.ronin.) Oh no skin off my back bff ... and certainly shouldn't be off yours either (if that even makes sense). I guess put another way, if Fatshark puts out a stellarly epic truly HD goggle module, I will buy it and applaud. In the same way I hope you do the same with Frsky. What truly chaps my hide are the hordes of sycophants that could never fault these manufacturers thereby creating this feedback loop of douchebaggery (or a "FLoD" as I like to call them) and you are stuck with sub par products that, after what 5 or 8 years of iterations, JUST got a frigging power button. This is what I am trying to prevent - for the sake of all our wallets. [edit] Ok ... so like posts like this ... tell me I'm not the only one that finds it odd? Quote:Probably going with Shark Byte. It can't be trademarked because too many similar names out there (we already researched it) but I don't think that matters for our market. It will be important to differentiate the name of the final release from Byte Frost because so anyone searching will only see the new and improved systems. • Posts: 1,197 Threads: 59 Likes Received: 592 in 395 posts Likes Given: 210 Joined: Mar 2019 Reputation: 42 (10-Feb-2020, 11:44 PM)the.ronin Wrote: Oh no skin off my back bff ... and certainly shouldn't be off yours either (if that even makes sense). Oh yeah the people who stick to a brand like it's giving out free diamonds while it destroys humanity (figure of speech) is beyond me. The same with people who completely boycott a brand who makes a good product just because they dont 'like the brand'. There are plenty of extremes both ways and its normally the same people with 2 different brands, they hate one and love the other. Almost like the good old Ford and Chevy debate lol. I'm excited for the new digital developments, but until I see a truly reliable product that outweighs the advantages of traditional analog I won't be changing over (unless I get a review unit....). |
