Pretty sure you need to flash Version 170313 for RSSI on channel 16

Thanks. Yeh, with all those settings its all 0V. i wonder if i knocked a resistor off or something. Not sure i care enough to try and fix it in the near term.

Also, just looked up how to flash the fw on the XM+. That ain't happening in the near term either. :-D

Maybe i'll just fly with a little battery voltage checker/alarm on it.

Edit: i added build pics to the first post.

Random thoughts:

It was pretty fiddly solderwork. Everything was smaller than i thought it'd be. Smile

This sticky battery pad stuff seems pretty awesome. I put a square on either side of the battery strap on the bottom of the drone. The battery stick and grips to it really well yet still releases and can be restuck for ever.

The GemFan props fit perfectly on the motors whereas the RotorX required me to drill out the center and screw holes to fit.

I need some clear heat shrink to insulate things with LEDs i still want to see like RX and VTX. My stash is all opaque. For the RX i put a strip around the middle so you could still push the button and see the LEDs. The double sided foam tape is doing the insulation. I don't have my VTX insulated at all, its in a zip tie "basket" on the top of the frame. Slightly sketchy so i'll get some clear heatshrink soon.

I'm happy with how i zip tied the beeper in back.

The first XT30 i soldered on, the pins were all wonky and didn't line up. I actually broke the connector trying to bend them back. The next time i kept it mated to a mating connector to keep thigns aligned while soldering and it seemed to do the trick.

Don't show your wife in the kitchen. She won't be impressed with the little hole in the ceiling...

So after the ceiling incident the power was flaky and intermittent. I found that wiggling the battery connector i soldered made it cut in and out. I resoldered that and now the power is good AND the voltage sensor works. We'll see how long it lasts. Smile

Thanks. i weighed it today. 91g for everything but the battery and 133g with the battery. I might venture out in a bit for another mini test flight. Can't resist.

It doesn't seem to work in DSHOT1200 mode even though i believe this FC/ESC supports it. DSHOT600 is fine. BLHeli version is 16.7. What settings are you guys running on your F428s?

Both of my F428's are set DSHOT600, with BLHeli 16.7 on the ESC's with no issues. Sub 140 grams with the motors you have chosen is essentially a rocket!

Today i set the throttle up in the transmitter to only output 75% per this vid:

I then went out to a field nearby. Its covered in snow, but its frozen so a fairly solid surface. I tried to fly a bit there LOS but it was too windy. It was fun and this thing really scoots, but the wind was blowing it all over. Its also hard to see which way this little thing is facing at a distance. I had a few little crashes, but mostly lowish height lowish speed.

I then went to an industrial complex parking lot that has big hills around it. The wind was much better here, but flying over asphalt is a little scary. I had a couple more little crashes when all the sudden it started flaking out. I got it home and the props off and it looks like two of the motors don't want to work. They just sort of stutter using the betaflight motor sliders while the other two work fine. The two bad motors feel ok spinning by hand so i don't think its mechanical. Maybe some solder got knocked loose or maybe some water/snow got inside. :/

Is there any way to verify the signal between the FC and ESC and between the ESC and motors independently? I'm running out of steam on this for the weekend so i'll prob take it apart and investigate next weekend.

I haven't flown this since my last go at it. I did about 2min of LOS in the backyard before realize its too hard to see/control LOS and in turn crashed into the house pretty solidly a couple times. So i turned on my goggles. Unfortunately, i only get a black video feed and no OSD.

Since there's no OSD, i guess its an issues between the FC and the VTX. FC seems to work fine otherwise, it flies normally. The VTX also seems to work in that the LED display works and reacts to button pushes properly. The wire between looks ok. the lense cap is off. Smile

Any ideas? I'll try re-soldering the wire in a bit.

Bypass the FC, and connect the camera directly to the VTX, to eliminate the FC OSD as the source of the problem.

My EV800D goggles work fine with other drones/cameras. The channel is set correctly for the Eclair. The channel is static and goes black when i turn on the Eclair.

I bypassed the FC and soldered the camera straight to the VTX03.

I measured 12V at the camera, on the camera PCB itself.

Tried accessing the camera OSD/menu with the little remote, no change on display.

No dice. Any other ideas? Is it likely/common for the camera to die on impact?

This sounds like my RunCam TX200 that arrived DOA. I was able to test the camera utilizing a different VTX. The camera's PCB can certainly go bad.

But wait, even if the camera was dead, I should have gotten OSD from my FC, right? weird... In the original state when this first started, i got nothing at all, just black screen.

Just a shot in the dark, but my buddy has a pair of the EV800D we thought died on him (black and blue screen was all he could get). But in fact he just changed the input by accident.
Have you connected to another quad since this problem?
