Another Armattan Rooster 5” as a backup. Hopefully I won’t crash both in a row.
I decided to keep this one simple & to the point:
Frame : Armattan Rooster 5 Inch
Flight Controller : F4S V1.6
ESC : Armattan DShot 30 amps BLHeli_S ESC/BB2 (Rebranded Spedix ES30 HV 3-6s BLHeli_S Dshot600 30A ESC)
Motor(s) : Armattan Oomph Velvet Edition 2206/2300 KV Motor
Receiver : FrSky R-XSR
VTX : TBS Unify Pro32 HV (MMCX)
Antenna : EMAX Pagoda-2
Camera : RunCam Racer 3
Beeper : Matek FPV FC 5V Loud Buzzer
Props : 5” DAL T5045C Cylcone
Battery : Lumenier Graphene 1300 mAh 4S 80C
Although I considered the Armattan Chameleon TI for this build I just feel the Rooster is tougher although there is less space. I like the CL Racing F4S because it has just what you need for a simple freestyle. I have another Armattan with the F7 but it just runs hotter & I don’t see any better performance. The CL Racing F4S has just enough ports for the RX with SBUS/SmartPort, VTX/SmartAudio, & the camera using either the CAM control pin or in this case RX4 & TX4 for the RunCam Racer 3.
Anyway, the layout was very clean & easy to service. The Maytek beeper needs a small capacitor between B- and ground to work properly – I used a 680pF this time. I solder this to the PCB then potted it so as to have a flat surface for double sided tape mounting. I do the same potting thing for the X-XSR receiver too.
Both the VTX and Camera solder to the FC using the 7.2V onboard BEC. Another thing I like about this FC.
The VTX is mounted on an AL plate I made using double sided thermal tape.
It weighs in at 392 grams and 559 grams with the battery. On my other Rooster I get anywhere from 5 min to 10 min depending how I’m flying so I'm expecting the same here.
I did some LOS hover tests today but I’m anxious to see how the TBS VTX performs. Mine is pumping out 1.4 Watts!
