Antennas for EV800D?
#1
Looking for some good antennas for my ev800d, I know the stock ones are garbage xD. I've been looking at the TrueRC X-Air 5.8ghz SMA Patch for my goggles, and the Lumenier AXII 2 for my vtx (rdq mach 3, 1 watt max). Are these good, and any recommendations for a diversity receiver for the goggles?

The EV800D has one of the best diversity receivers on the market.  If you want a separate receiver, Drone Mesh on YouTube has a video how to do it.

Those antennas you have in mind for each are good choices.  There are other choices, but none are SIGNIFICANTLY bettter.

Oh, my bad I said receiver instead of antenna... I meant if you have any recommendations for a diversity antenna for the goggles.

The TrueRC X-Air is really good.

I have that one and really noticed the difference over the stock one.

The MX-Air is also one to have a look at if only going to fly about 2km out (not much good after that) as it can also be used as an on steroids Omni as it has a 180 degree beam.

What is the max range with both combined? Also, do you know of a good guide for modding the battery (to change it to like a 300mAh 2s)? ty
Would it be good to use it as an everyday omni or is it just for when you forgot an omni or... so like if I wanted to use it as an omni I face it towards to sky, then when I want more range I can push it to face where I'm flying?

The AXII will work well on both the quad and goggles for your omni antenna.  And the TrueRC X-air is fine for your directional antenna, although I believe the VAS Pepperbox is better.

Cool, the pepperbox is too expensive for me, but I might look at it in the future. Thanks

MX-Air is good for about 1.5km. X-Air I have only gone out to 2.3km so far but it had zero static at that distance.

I have the AXII as well. Yet to decide if the MX-Air works better than the AXII as an Omni. Still testing. I have only just got the X-Air and am so impressed by it.

The reason I even went with this antenna is due to Oscars blog https://oscarliang.com/best-fpv-antenna/

The X-air is good enough for me for the near future. I would have to build a specific quad for long range to warrant a better antenna as basically my battery will run out before I can get far enough away and make it back.

I would love something like the Pepperbox but don't need just yet. Maybe when I get around to building a wing Smile

Skip to about 1:40. This is the AXII long version on the quad and the X-Air on the EV800D. The VTX is the TBS Unify Pro 32HV at 1000mw. As you will see not even the slightest amount of static at this range.

Awesome, thank you. I think I'll go with the AXII because it's meant to be an omni and it's a bit cheaper, but if you do more testing with the mx-air lemme know how it does and I might change my mind  Smile

Be sure your VTX antenna of choice is a long version.
