4-in-1 Succex ESC errors
#1
Hi all,

I'm half way through my first build - thought I'd start myself off gently and build an iFlight DC3 (with DJI) using the same components the BNF uses.  So an iFlight Succex Mini F7, and an iFlight Succex Mini 40A 4-in-1 ESC.

The build seemed to go fine (although my soldering needs work), and I've successfully got the FC configured in BetaFlight with my DJI radio.  However I cannot get the motors to respond in the Motors section of BetaFlight.

I've downloaded and run BLHeli Configurator and hit "Read Setup".  In the log I see the output below, note the four errors like "ESC 1 read settings failed cmd_DeviceInitFlash ACK_D_GENERAL_ERROR"

So my question is, how do I go about diagnosing what might be wrong here?

Thanks for your help!

Ok this is weird.  I tried switching my ESC/Motor Protocol from DHOT600 to OneShot125, and back to DSHOT600 and now the motors are spinning up correctly in the Motors tab...  And when I view the log from BLHeli Configurator I now get different errors "ESC 1 read settings failed cmd_DeviceReadEEprom ACK_I_INVALID_CMD"

Plus before switching to OneShot and back to DSHOT I wasn't getting the 5 startup beeps, just the first 3 beeps, but now I get all 5...!

How is it that changing the protocol from DSHOT600 to OneShot125 and back to DSHOT600 has fixed things?  And are they really fixed - given those BLHeli Configurator errors...  Very confused!

I'm pretty sure that esc runs blheli_32 so the regular blheli configurator won't work. You'll need blheli_32 suit. https://github.com/bitdump/BLHeli/tree/m...i_32%20ARM

Direct download link:

When I click "Check" in BLHeliSuite I get the following, and the Write Setup box is greyed out:

Can you confirm you are using blheli32 suite and not blheli suite.

Yup this was it!!

Annoyingly when you go to the BLHeli Suite 32 site (link).  The first download link takes you to a Google Drive location that has 4 files in it, two downloads for Linux, one for Mac, and one for Windows.  Unfortunately the download link for the Windows zip file is BLHeli Suite (not the 32bit version!).  However the second download link on the BLHeli Suite 32 site has those previous 4 files linked, but also a fifth file - BLHeli Suite 32 for Windows!!!  OMG I've just spent 3 hours trying to work out why my quad wasn't responding.  I don't want to say how close I was to getting the soldering iron out to de-solder my ESC.  Thank you so much for pointing out what was sitting right in front of my face.

Flickeryvision actually mentioned it above. But from your post, I had a feeling you missed his post.

That direct download link Flickeryvision sent is the one I was using which is the one with only 4 files in (Linux x2, Mac x1, Windows x1).  I had to use the alternate download link (https://www.mediafire.com/folder/dx6kfaa...LHeliSuite) which has all 5 versions in.

No need to apologise at all.  This was my mistake, you were helpfully providing the links the website is advertising.  I should have checked more throughly what tool I was working with.  Anyway all good now.
