Just my perspective  Rolleyes  Simulators are fine, but no substitute for real flying.

Buy something, build something...fly. Don't worry about crashing; that just goes with the territory. For me, landing and crashing are the same thing. A good flight is one where nothing got broken and I don't have to walk very far to retrieve it. Of course, watch out for trees...they can eat your quad.

What are you using as a transmitter (remote controller) for your simulator?
...some type of "game" controller or a standard quad transmitter?

If you don't have anything yet, consider a "combo" package that has everything; just to get you started.

OR

Buy a transmitter (radio remote controller), goggles, and a BNF (Bind N Fly) quad of your choice.
Buying gets you in the air faster and is generally more cost effective.
Building takes more time and can be more challenging (sometimes), but has its own rewards.

A good "starter" quad is the GEPRC Phantom (2.5 inch props). Even though it is small, it handles really well and is quite durable for about $140.00 (more or less depending on where you buy). There are cheaper ones, of course... it just depends on what you want.

Yeah, once you get started, money flies away, too.  Rolleyes

Off into the wild blue yonder.  Cool

Well ain't that the truth ! I like most was fascinated by Mr steeles videos and wanted to fly like him but I couldn't even land properly let alone hit a gap the size of a football goal post but one day it just clicked and I jumped the learning block I was going thru I believe the main thing that changed everything for me is some one said "dedicate yourself to where your flying " Well maybe not those exact words but they were right kinda like parking a car or something you can't see everything around u but u are not worried because u know it will fit our nervouseness is our worst enemy once u calm down take a breath and start flying you become more into it then you start getting in a flow and start adding finess then thats when u really are locked in flying close to or thru stuff or around becomes nothing because u are in total control I still get nervous flying and I crash but if I fly like I know I may crash then thats when I do my best flying

Hi Titanv11,

First hang in there.  Smile   It will get better.

There are a lot of helpful members here with a vast amount of knowledge and willing to help.

A lot of members, including me, start a BUILD thread so others can follow progress, comment, and help with issues during the build.

Also, you can start a HELP thread for a particular issue or problem.

One of the posts in My Journal is a Thread Index that I find useful.
It is organized by category so that I (and others) can find useful information.

You might browse through that and see if you find anything useful.

I have been taking a break through the winter. I have had a couple of problems with two of my quads that no one seems to be able to diagnose, and/or I simply can't describe the issues in a coherent manner. Sometimes it is good for me to just walk away and take a break. Forcing myself to push on when I don't know what I am doing only breeds more frustration. I haven't tried to fix any issues for about two months. Now I am getting fired up again and I am looking to fly. I may just give up on fixing the issues and fly a new quad. But either way, with the season changing to Spring I am looking forward to putting on the goggles and seeing that fisheye view of the world again.
Don't be afraid to take a break when things get too overwhelming.

What exactly are your issues?  When i have troubles... sometimes I take the entire thing apart and then start with a fresh mind the next day...

Also, as posted above... this forum has been my BIGGEST help...

i dont care who you are, if you are growing,.... you WILL ask ‘stupid questions’ and one day look back to realize how obnoxious those questions will seem... what I do encourage, ASK ‘STUPID’ QUESTIONS... they will help you and everyone else!!

Thanks for the pep talk.

It took me about 2-3 months to ever get my first drone in the air.... i built a 4” drone with 2204 motors and man.. that took me FOREVER to get it to work.  From waiting for parts from eBay to watching video after video to figure things out...

THEN, i discovered intofpv and my life was never the same LOL

If you’re afraid to ask something, feel free to send me a Private Message (PM) and I will absolutely do my best to help you... you or ANYONE!!
