Hi guys, I have finally finished Whoopie build. Screenshots to be added shortly. - Updated Banggood Chaoli motors Stripped vd5m RX - flashed with Fishpepper firmware EVO brushed fc Ladybird props My build without battery weights 48.4 g Weight with Eachine 750mAh battery 64.8 g It flies well but flight time indoors is a bit dissapointing. Getting around 3 minutes Any idea why flight time is short? I am using 300mah and I get about 3:30 • Posts: 42 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 2 in 2 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2016 Reputation: 0 (16-Oct-2016, 12:21 PM)Oscar Wrote: I found smaller packs actually gives longer flight time... The build weights 44.5g battery is 9g so total weight is 53.5g but overall i think your build is slightly on the heavy side.. remember every gram makes a big difference in brushed quads.. • Posts: 39 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Oct 2016 Reputation: 0 I have a teoritical (and may be heretical) question. Is the ducted effect of the propellers really measurable or are the ducted fans more or less a cosmeticall feature of the whoopie? • Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 To be honest it's intended more for prop pretection than efficiency improvement • Posts: 1,070 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 742 in 378 posts Likes Given: 577 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 44 isn't it quieter with "ducts"? • Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 Not really it's actually louder because of the struts in the way.. but I did quite a few revision to minimise the noise but it's still louder than without the ducts Posts: 39 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Oct 2016 Reputation: 0 ok, thanks for the answer. I am looking forward to build it. However, maybe, i will remix the frame. I am bad bad pilot, but i love to design things with my 3D printer. Funny fact is, that it was cheaper to buy complete QX90 which i will disassemble and rebuild as to buy part piece by piece • Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 I will share the design file (123D design) in the first post tonight when i get home • Posts: 133 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 52 in 29 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Aug 2016 Reputation: 5 (17-Oct-2016, 05:31 PM)Oscar Wrote: I will share the design file (123D design) in the first post tonight when i get home Looking forward to it! I "remixed" (read: hacked to bits) this guy to be a tad lighter and incorporate your camera mount. Would like to try and modify yours bit to accommodate these props (pictured on left, then the hubsan ones nobody likes, ladybirds, rolling spider) Also - these cable ties do seem to fit your camera mount - albeit very snug. • Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 (17-Oct-2016, 06:08 PM)CesiumSalami Wrote: Looking forward to it! It might actually fly great with the parrot prop, but the frame would be made considerably bigger The best triblade i can find for 8mm motors are this, but they are not easy to find. http://www.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopter-pa...d=10130579 • Posts: 133 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 52 in 29 posts Likes Given: 22 Joined: Aug 2016 Reputation: 5 Thanks for uploading the file! B: I'm going to put a build up soon - I dunnnnnnno might change your mind on the smaller triblades above.
