Replacement VTX arrived, an 8G V2.

It came with a different FC plug/cable, but no cable for the smaller USB connector.  Needs the USB adapter/cable kit.
I don't use the 8G VTX on the V1 - it's too small and only holds like 4-5 3min flights of video.  Same with this V2.
But, I will need the USB adapter/cable for firmware updates.  Only Caddx sells it at this time.

Have to change FC cable/wires on the quad.  Was hoping for a V1 swappable replacement.
Wonder if a single V1 antenna works well enough?

I appreciate the upgrade.  More crap to buy at some point though.

That's really odd they don't supply the proprietary USB cable with their VTX, I guess they assume if you order a VTX only you must already have the complete kit? Well V2 is supposed to be more hardy than V1 and less interference if you want to add a GPS so a nice upgrade.

TBH I think you did better to end up with a V2 VTX even if there are some hassles with the USB cable adapter. It's a shame that you didn't get the 32GB version which is only $20 more expensive but I guess they are trying to give you as little as possible even though supplying dud hardware in the first place is their fault.

I would ping them an email and ask them to send you USB cable adapter (for free) because none of this was your fault. You have nothing to lose by trying.

Interesting day, kind of.

It's 40°F cooler today than when I was tuning/flying/tuning a couple weeks ago (80°F).  I'm thinking this quad likes warmer weather, if that's even a thing.
Had a good amount of jello in the video today - thinking the TPU 'arms' that hold the camera in front of the frame are a little less flexible and less damping (?)
Also noticed the tune from two weeks ago was a little off - can temps mess with a tune?
I tried some 3S packs but had all kinds of strangeness - bobbles, jello, lethargy, etc.
Maybe the frame and prop guards overall are a little stiffer today, and are throwing off the tune (?)

Think I'll let this sit until it warms up a bit and try again.

TPU does stiffen up and become more brittle in cold weather, so maybe that adds some jello. And humidity can affect how a quad flies, but for the frame that is stiff to start with and don't imagine normal temperatures should have too much impact. Maybe something changed on your quad (beaten props, loose screws, loose stack, loose frame/frame parts?).

I was also thinking the gummies that support the flight controller might be a little stiffer in the cold as well.

I recently put new props on (different color) but otherwise the exact same as the stock 3-blade props.  No nicks, cracks, bends, etc.

But then my other quads don’t have this problem.

Hmmm -there's a bunch of wires (receiver 4 wires, vtx 4 wires, camera mipi cable) 'squished' in-between the flight controller-vtx sandwich.  Perhaps those wires are also stiffer and since they're pressing up against the components on flight controller, well ...

Perhaps this is simply a characteristic of this type of quad design/component layout.

LOL, today I decided to use the old DOS File Compare (FC.EXE) to compare a current dump to one of the previous dumps when the quad was flying really good.

I found a few things that were changed, but not quite sure how, and they're not visible in the BF tabs: PID_SUM_LIMIT, PID_SUM_LIMIT_YAW, and GYRO_LPF1_STATIC_HZ. I set them back, and set all PID sliders back to 1.0 and it's flying much better (????????). At least for today. Tomorrow, who knows Wink

Just a little bit of jello-like shimmer, but only around the edges of the video. I ordered some 5-blade replacements; been using 3-blade props - maybe they're not as 'smooth' as the 5 blades (?)

Well, the quad continues to fly well with default BetaFlight 4.3.2 settings across the board.
I've asked AxisFlying to provide the original factory CLI settings/Dump/DiffAll that they supply with the quad.  Just for comparison at this point.
Waiting for the 5-blade props. In strong sunlight the image is very nice. The quad is really quick.

Quad does not fly well with 3S 800mAh packs.  Flies great with 4S 600mAh packs.

Quad flies Sooooooo much better with 5-blade props than 3-blade.

Well, AxisFlying doesn't respond to customer messages on their website.  Got one from April 5 (unanswered) and it appears my latest one from a few days ago is not going to be answered either Sad

PSA

If anyone has one of these quads perhaps you've noticed they have evaporated from earth, or at least from AxisFlying's website. Along with spare frame parts.

I was able to buy a replacement frame from NewBeeDrone - they're one of the few places I could find them. They used to be everywhere a few months ago, or so.

Good luck Smile

It seems to be a common theme with a lot of quads these days. FPV manufacturers rush out products to chase the hype train and when the next hype train comes along they start chasing that instead and just drop their previous hype train product(s). How many "cinewhoop" style quads are currently out there and how many have we seen come and go over the last couple of years? I think there are too many to even list. If you buy into one you need to stock up with enough spares that you think you might need from the outset to protect your investment and avoid being left with an unrepairable end-of-life "brick".

Depending on how you break it and how you fly, there is always the option to remove some pieces and convert a cinewhoop into a ductless or cinelifter setup. Also with the hundreds of cinewhoop style frames available now, they are cheaper than before and you have a lot more options whether you want a lighter/heavier/brighter/fancier/etc. so moving the internals to a new frame is also an option.
And since quadflyer has his new Bambu, he can just print out a new duct/frame as their promo suggests Big Grin

Definitely.  Looks like they replaced the Z25 with the C25, which among other things doesn't have the up/down facing motors thing going on. Guess that wasn’t the hype they had hoped it would be.
