I went to the FAA site after reading an email I got from them. I couldn't find a definitive date we are to have completed the test, but I seems by April 22nd we were to have the test completed before being legal to fly.
The test has to be proctored and there is a fee that seems to vary locally here.
I don't plan on taking any test at this point, but I'm curious if anyone else has. I know on a couple of my long range pages, none of the guys there are even aware the test is required yet.
Does anyone have good info with dates, etc. on this topic?

I’m curious as to the progress with RDQs lawsuit against the FAA • Posts: 5,851 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,775 in 2,237 posts Likes Given: 7,601 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 From what I have read, you need to be registered and have a 107 license if you are flying a Part 107 operation which is ANY Flight, regardless of quad size, that results in the "Furtherance of a Business" which the FAA defines as anything that promotes {furtherance} a business which they consider pretty much everything including yourself {anything that can be promoted or receive any kind of gain}. The concept of monetary compensation is not specifically listed, but is consider one method of "furthering" a business {actually any entity that can be benefited is considered a business}. Specific examples that I have seen include a farmer overseeing his land, any YouTube posting as that is promoting one's self, or even for charitable organizations because it provides a "benefit" by promoting them. The Flight has to be purely and solely for Hobby purposes with no one gaining anything except the pilots fun and experience. .......................................................................................... Does the FAA intend for every kid who gets a toy drone to take that test...talk about absurdity. While I haven't seen anything regarding this "Test" so far, it seems that it would NOT {or should NOT} apply to the sub 250 gram, pure "HOBBY" flights. In the EU/UK the requirement to take a test if you pilot any kind of drone is already part of the regulations, even if the drone is under 250g. You get no concessions here for flying "toys", so there is no point breaking your back by trying to get below a certain weight threshold and have to make compromises on the build because of that. I only have Wastebook for this hobby to communicate with ones that are not from my area of the country. Eliminate all others. I understand concerns with air safety, the problem I have is if a quad not matter how big or small once it lifts off the ground 1 inch or 1000 feet it is all piled into the same category. A mob-6 and a DJI Inspire will be treated the same when they are clearly NOT!
The FAA clearly pushed this through without having ANY "system" in place....Remote ID, ok, where is it? who is making it? what are the perimeters? I wont be developed / Built in china... there is a reason the US Government doesnt use DJI... At that time there wasn't a provision for sub 250gr. Perhaps that is in the requirement now and the tiny guys won't have to for the time being. I haven't bothered to read about the regs and the testing process, I won't comply. Nor will I give up the performance that a large quad provides to hide under the 250gr window.
If you're smart you won't become a victim of federal regulations. But if you want to be a legal beagle, you need to be taking a knowledge test it seems.
Given that every long ranger is breaking federal law, even if sub 250gr. And probably in the neighborhood of 80% of ALL UAV pilots are in violation of federal law by not having a ham license. We don't see the feds raking in big bucks from sneaky FPV pilots wallets, I say don't worry.
