Do most of you all use Mode 1 or mode 2 TX? And why?
Transmitter Mode 1 or Mode 2, and why? |
20-Dec-2016, 02:36 PM Mode 2, cause that's what's common in the community. Go to a club meet, and find out what everyone else is flying, and then learn that. 20-Dec-2016, 02:39 PM Personally you are best to fly whatever the people around you fly since they can then help and you can try their equipment and they can try yours. I guess at the end of he day, it's all about preference. I fly mode 3 (that's like mode 2 w/ switched left/right stick). Coming from RC cars with stick tx (can't stand pistol/wheel type tx) and having throttle on right stick (tbh since gran tourismo on playstation 1 lol), when i started flying collective pitch helicopters and quads i knew exactly what i wanted. Imho it doesn't make sense to learn mode 2 just because everyone else does. It would be much better if you fly the mode that feels most intuitive to you. However, when starting from zero it might not be so easy to find out what's best for you. Also some tx can't just be easily converted to other modes. Some can, like my DX6g2 (spring load ready on all axis), but still have to open the tx to do so. PS: If you play pc or console games... you could try something like battlefield 4 helicopters with a joypad, and change controls to try all modes until you find one that you like. 20-Dec-2016, 10:51 PM mode 2 - im right handed, so more precision in right hand... and throttle/yaw... i can live with "worse" All the best Grzesiek (Grisha/ Greg) Curently flyable: Nox 5, Minimalist 112 Bench / in progres: fixing Nox 3, Scrap thinking about building: 450 Mode 2 - It's the only thing I was exposed to (in USA). I think I'd have trouble switching - just like I'd have trouble driving on the left side of the road (or behind a steering wheel on the right side of the car). 21-Dec-2016, 07:23 PM I crash in mode 2 Doubt I could switch if my life depended on it..... "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 21-Dec-2016, 07:44 PM (20-Dec-2016, 10:51 PM)Grisha0 Wrote: mode 2 - im right handed, so more precision in right hand... and throttle/yaw... i can live with "worse" Mode 2, I'm left handed, so more precision on throttle/yaw comes in "handy". See what I did there? But seriously. It doesn't matter. "fly helicopter in battlefield" tip is the best you will get if you can't find anyone with a real transmitter nearby. Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car i don;t know how bout you but i tried mode 1 before mode 2... it wasnt right... like driving the uk car "it is just wrong" All the best Grzesiek (Grisha/ Greg) Curently flyable: Nox 5, Minimalist 112 Bench / in progres: fixing Nox 3, Scrap thinking about building: 450 22-Dec-2016, 06:14 PM (20-Dec-2016, 03:30 PM)fftunes Wrote: throttle on right stick (tbh since gran tourismo on playstation 1 lol) Oh yes, the introduction of feeding the throttle on driving games, I'm with you 100%... ...But I still fly mode 2, just cos that's what is referenced by the majority of information I can find, so mode 2 was what I ordered my H8 toy TX. Still, I can play FIFA and PES, I played CoD and, was it Ghost Recon(?) that had turn and strafe on the other sticks... either way it just takes a bit of getting used to... Generally, modes 1 and 4 are more common for airplanes. But as many said already, it really doesn't make a difference at all. One exception: when flying CP helicopters (or 3D quads), in mode 1&4 it is possible to do one-handed tic-tocs lol. @Tom BD Bad: Hey fellow gamer I was thinking about making a gaming thread in the off-topic section... 27-Dec-2016, 12:55 PM mode 2 as the most of us here :-) I have been told in europe the most used is mode 2 . I don't think i could fly mode 1 , even with some practice . My brain is hardwired to mode 2 . greatz 22-Jan-2017, 04:27 AM (This post was last modified: 22-Jan-2017, 04:29 AM by Drone0fPrey.) I am a mode 2 user also. Seems prominent in USA or at least the areas I've been in the NW states +1 to what feels good on a video game your familiar with! I was actually explaining to a friend today who asked "what are the controls" i explained and his response was "thats a lot like flying the helicopter in GTA" lol 28-Jan-2017, 01:40 PM Being new I saw a video that suggested I try to do something in mode 2 almost as if I could flip a switch. When I found out what it was I was like "wait, I had a choice on that?". While I am probably still new enough that I could easily switch, I'll be flying mode 2 not because that's what everyone else uses or anything other than that's what my transmitter shipped as and what I've been learning on so far. I am just barely starting to learn to do turns the last thing I want to do is go back to the beginning with throttle control on my right thumb I have to admit the Gran Tourismo comment did make me consider it for a brief moment carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 16-May-2017, 06:22 PM Started on mode 1 when I flew the Parrot AR Drone mainly because it has a more natural feel coming from playing racing video games. I swapped to mode 2 when I got my first OG Phantom 1 and have been using that mode ever since. |
