That’s awesome! It’s been too windy here for me to try today..bummer. Yeah, try scaling down the throttle, I’m still playing with it, or more like having trouble with it. You fly anything else?

Betaflight 4.0.0
           P.     I.        D.      FF
ROLL. 100. 120.   90.      90
Pitch.   100.  120.  90.      90
Yaw.     90.     90.   40.      80

 DShot 300.
Gyro. 4.0 kHz
PID loop. 4.0khz

*NOTE. The “.” After the numbers (PIDS /Rates) were put in by my phone .. so the placement in betaflight should remain
Keep me posted .. I honestly have NO IDEA how or where I got these.. but it has made flying my tinyhawk inside SO MUCH MORE enjoyable !
Thank you Rob! I’m definitely gonna try those.Especially that PID loop frequency. I noticed mine is set to 2khz and have been wanting to increase. Did you change your Dshot from 600 to 300? You are flying a TH2 correct? Your rates look about stock if I’m remembering correctly. Thanks so much for posting those!

No I’m flying a TH “s” it is the same fc and motors... like I said I can’t remember how / where I got these, I want to say the PIDs are from the site, and the rates were just me playing with them “trying” to soften the sticks.. as for d-shot.. I may have changed it, can’t be sure..

Just a quick check. I hope you two are mistakenly saying "PID". You should only be touching the rate settings. The stock PID settings on the TH and THF are fine....don't mess with them. Seriously - there's absolutely no need to touch those.

It's the rate settings that you want to change. In Betaflight, this is a little confusing as they are on the same page. PIDs are the first tab and rates are the second. Be careful not to touch the PIDs.

I agree. The PIDs should already be dialed in. I’m trying to tame the throttle control. Thanks ljholland!

You can seriously dial back the throttle% in Betaflight....like a lot when you first get started. But, move them back quickly when you can get some basic turns down as you can't do ANY simple tricks with the throttle very low. You'll end up crashing because you can't power out of a dive.

FWIW, I have 6 rate profiles that I can change using the little "chicken feet" buttons above the power on. These let me make small adjustments depending on my mood/quad.
I primarily fly using#3. (#1 is the stock rate from Emax from what I remember). Not for today....but once you guys are comfortable making changes on the TX16 and Betaflight, hit me up and I'll share how it's done. It's kinda complicated. For now, keep it simple.

Lance's Rate Profile List (who is still a novice so take it for what it's worth)

1 - 0.90 0.80 0.10 (stock profile - decent for freestyle)
2 - 0.80 0.76 0.10
3 - 0.93 0.76 0.12 (I mostly use this one)
4 - 1.00 0.80 0.12
5 - 1.50 0.00 0.30 (sort of a race profile I've been messing with)
6 - 1.55 0.72 0.20 (these are Joshua Bardwell's rates..mostly there out of curiosity)
- 1.55 0.72 0.20
- 1.20 0.70 0.10

Thank you Ljholland! As soon as the wind dies down I’m gonna try your profile. That is if I get this throttle tamed. I’m hoping the TX16s will help us I just realized I have 21700s and not 18650s...ugh

I found the control of the TX16S dramatically better than the two toy radios I had before them (the Emax radio and the BetaFPV Literadio).

I should have listened when people said just get a TX16S.

I can’t wait to try it. Too windy and I don’t have the right batteries..lol. Do you fly anything else? I’m really thinking about getting another fpv drone and am on the fence over analog v. digital and size of craft. It’s windy here a lot of the time and also trying to find a heavier type hoping to not have the breezes affect me too badly.

Digital vs. Analog is a whole 'nuther question. If you have the funds to go directly to digital and pay for quads outfitted with those transmitters, I would. You'll probably eventually get DJI anyway. I'm holding off a bit. I was hoping that DJI v2 would be a significant improvement but it's not.

As far as size, lots of folks swear by 5". My concern is that the laws will eventually be a problem ... we're ok now... but it's coming. For that reason, I'm staying under 250g so I don't need to worry.

I have a
Tinyhawk 2
Tinyhawk Freestyle
GepRC Phantom
GepRC Dolphin
FPV Crate Tiny Trainer

The best next move is the GepRC Phantom. While it is the same size and looks much like a Freestyle, it's 100% better...it's like a small 5". Had I known, I'd have not gotten the Freestyle. That doesn't mean the Freestyle is a bad quad, it's that it's just very tame/underpowered. The Dolphin is a great quad if you want to go to something larger without getting into big stuff. It's VERY fast...maybe too big a leap from a TH.

Oh - and if you do go digital, there's a digital version of the Phantom!

Another issue when you get into big stuff is bigger everything else...batteries, chargers, etc. I'd cool it and fly a bit, learn by repairing, and see if this is something you'll be sticking with. There's plenty of good toys to buy. (just takes $$$$)

The only reason I posted the PIDS was to see if there was any difference .. the RATES and Lois loop plus dshot...
I remember uploading “project mocking bird” and not realizing the versions of betaflight had to be the same...
Like I said HOW/where I got these ... I have no idea.. I just know I can fly my tinyhawkS indoors, under furniture, through Small gaps with no problem...compared to before ..

I appreciate that you did Rob. I noticed my PID loop cycle is at 2khz while everyone else’s I’ve seen has been at least 4khz. I’m still thinking about trying the higher rate.

I've tried increasing the PID cycle to 8khz and Betaflight slows to a crawl. I can barely get Bataflight to respond. I assume that's because the FC is unable to keep up at that clock speed. 4 works fine.
