Throttles up but won't throttle down
#1
All,

I am looking for some info as I try to help a friend troubleshoot a whoop that is based on the BetaFPV 1s AIO FC. It's built, and he's got it bound to his transmitter and headset just fine, but it is acting funny. When he applies the throttle, it will throttle up nicely and take off, but the throttle will not back down as he brings the stick back down. Is this a possible brick of a FC? Any thoughts?

What is it doing in betaflight? Does it show proper “throttle up and down” in the channel mapping? Can u strap down the quad (with props on) and bench test ? Do the motors spin down accordingly?or do they stay “ramped up”?

With the strap-down test, if the motors throttle up but not back down, there could be too much frame vibration that is getting felt in the FC. Try changing the rpm filtering from 1.0 to 0.8. This has solved this same problem for me on a couple 2S builds with too-flexible frames.

Sounds like it could be a tuning issue. Try a PID preset meant for that style of quad

Whoop on 2s ? 65mm?
Give us the specs on the build? How does it react on 1s?

It's a 65mm 1s build on the F4 AIO FC. The weird thing is, I built the exact same build twice and each of mine just flew beautifully right after getting motor rotation in the right order. The firmware was all preloaded and set up at the factory. All I had to do was set up my switches in my radio, and away we went.

Sorry, I got this thread mixed up with a 2s issue..

I had that happen with a Mob6. Filters were not correct. It was fine with the crappy OEM batteries but throttle ran away with good LiPo's. I loaded a whoop tune from Betaflight and the throttle operates normally now.

Bad filter for the win! He's got it airborne. Thanks friends!
