Should I get Long range radio for my mini quad? |

E.g. through concrete walls, trees etc... 22-Aug-2017, 11:02 PM I think our range is limited more by the 5.8Ghz system though, increasing your radio range might not help as much as you think... unless you are flying with 1.2Ghz FPV systems then it makes more sense to get long range radio systems personally I always find my 2.4Ghz radio has more range and better penetration than my 5.8Ghz video anyway.. 22-Aug-2017, 11:03 PM To be honest with racers stick to 2,4GHz. It's plenty enough to race, freestyle and whatnot. When beginning the adventure with racers I was switching from big drones with LRS (Long Range System) - 433 MHz. The telemetry module in receiver had 50mW power and it was enough to disrupt the Naze32 72 Mhz CPU (something about 6th harmonics of 433Mhz). To make long story short - it cost me half the quad (it run away and didn't want to stop spinning resulting in 4 burnt ESC and 2 EMAX RS2205). Since then - only the good old 2,4Ghz. the new TBS crossfire module might be worth checking out. http://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/product:1756 04-Oct-2017, 10:34 PM Just ordered the crossfire mini bundle with an extra receiver. What interested me was the reduced latency, as well as a desire to build a long range rig in the future. Will update once i test it out. Flying: Talon 6S 6" 2407s 381g no bat, Martian 3, 5" 2205s sooo heavy + gopro session 5 573g AUW, Aurora 5" 2205s 280g no bat, Druckbaer 3" 1404s 172g AUW 3S 550, BQE Megapixel 2.5" 1107s 139g AUW 3S 550, BabyHawk R 2.5" 164g AUW 3S 550 (stock except microeagle, CRSF, 2.5" arms) and maybe 3 more, for now... |
