I think sub 250g will survive remote ID. The feds don't want the bad press that they went after toys.

In Europe if you have a fpv cam on your sub 250 you'll have to get permits to fly and register already.

Except for point #1 it’s business as usual for me.
Did the FAA just make us all outlaw cowboys?

I think that they pretty much did exactly that.

If you gotta fly big, then you either conform or go "outlaw".

I only have two "big" 7 inch builds, but I'm keeping them...and... not going down the Remote ID rat hole.

RDQ posted this today:
RDQ Wrote:As you may have seen, the FAA has released their remote ID rule. Our legal team has been reviewing it for the last few hours and is working on a summary that we will release in the near future.

"... remote identification is only required if the UA is operated under rules that require registration, such as part 107."

What exactly does this mean?  Does it mean Remote ID is only required under rules that require registration of the person, or registration of the drone?

And if it means the person, does this:

"...UAS operators under the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations may continue to register with the FAA once, rather than registering each aircraft...."

...mean that technically if we are flying recreational only, the drone doesn't require registration, only the operator does and it is achieved by registering yourself and paying the fee, as we do nowThen you have to label 250+ gram quads with YOUR registration number but the quad itself is still not registered.

From all the uproar I am assuming that is means registration "of the drone" but technically it seems it could be interpreted either way as it isn't clearly spelled out.  Or am I totally off my rocker and somewhere else it expressly states that it means "of the drone".

RDQ was/is working to repeal remote ID, I guess RDQ has more work to do...

I think we all have more work to do. We can't let RDQ go at this alone. There needs to be a LOT of work put in by the FPV manufacturers, Retail sellers, and consumers. There is strength in numbers. So if (when) the time comes to be heard we all have to make some noise. If we don't support the RDQ's of the world and if we don't stand up and make our own noise, then we don't have any business complaining about the outcome.

We need to register the "HD" fpv cam to comply to the privacy rules (should we even register the dash cam and the smartphone soon?).
We don't need to get any permit outside airports or special areas.

I have to register the drone with any type of camera on any type of airspace. It's stupid but it's a reality since I fly.
