I just been soldering and fiddeling for 2 hours with this betafpv superD RX.. When i finally got it bound to the receiver i didnt see any input in betaflight.. Had to invert tx.. Ok all done.. Testing time.. As soon as i turned the quad on the RX started glitching.. Not working, then work again a few times and eventually stopped working forever.. No shorts.. Powered by 5v.. No more leds nothing.. Good thing i bought 2.. Another try tomorrow, but damn what a POS. Can anyone suggest a good elrs rx brand? • Posts: 1,370 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 1,413 in 730 posts Likes Given: 1,077 Joined: Jun 2019 Reputation: 41 Happymodel, deceptively cheap, deceptively good. I think the RadioMaster ELRS receivers are (close?) copies of the Happymodel ones, at least the configurator uses Happymodel files to build the Radiomaster firmware ... I have two of the RadioMaster RP1 receivers - no problems yet. Solid and very reliable. Also have an RP2 that I'm getting ready to install (no u.fl antenna - the 'cube' instead), so looking forward to see how well that works. _____________________________________ Walksnail / Avatar … It’s better than analog ! It sounds like you had some issues with the SuperD receiver that were due to configuration and/or wiring. I haven't heard of any failures of either of these modules, and am pretty active on Discord helping people troubleshoot. Next time you run into issues, I encourage you to stop by. https://discord.com/invite/expresslrs Posts: 4,073 Threads: 75 Likes Received: 2,548 in 1,858 posts Likes Given: 3,949 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 121 I’m also a big fan of Happymodel ELRS rx’s. Dangerous operations. Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about. I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose. Posts: 13 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 3 Joined: Aug 2022 Reputation: 0 Ok thanks all for the input. I might have jumped the gun a bit.. I found out after contacting the supplier that even if the LEDs are not blinking and looking all dead it was still able to go into bootmode with the little button during powerup. I used the configurator to flash it and got it back online. During flashing the firmware I got a firmware mismatch error. It was using the Happymodel firmware.. (So yeah I guess its just a copy as mentioned before). Forced flashed it, and now its updated and working great so far... Haven't flown it yet. Next problem: It appears that setting up Telemetry on my radio is not as straight forward as I assumed. After some videos and messing around I've managed to got a correct battery readout with all warnings working. RSSI and LQ.. I saw a video of someone setting up dozens of Logic switches for each option when changing link speed and ratio or something.. Isnt there just an easy setting or tutorial for my XLite radio?? All I want is a warning when connection is getting low, and is getting very low.. Appreciate the help guys! • Posts: 180 Threads: 7 Likes Received: 38 in 30 posts Likes Given: 54 Joined: Mar 2023 Reputation: 2 I was using BetaFPV until they sent a SuperD without the receiver. They refuse to send it now, as it is past their 14 day window for returns. They work, but they work as well as the rest. So it is no big deal if I never use BetaFPV again, I won't, as the Happymodels are just as good if not better. Radiomasters are actually better. Foxeer ELRS actuall work better than BetaFPV. BetaFPV also had a bad TX module (luckily I bought from a trusted vendor and not the untrustyworthy BetaFPV), and though they aren't related, the QC they obviously are lacking is a sure sign that this isn't the only two screwups they will make. BTW, I'll be blasting these clowns every chance I get. • Posts: 1,505 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 713 in 524 posts Likes Given: 477 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 93 13-Jul-2023, 09:52 PM (This post was last modified: 13-Jul-2023, 09:56 PM by V-22.) The SuperD is a receiver, what wasn't included? As long as the vendor has not messed up the receiver design (eg Jumper, JHEMCU, Flywoo, HiYounger, some Matek: https://www.expresslrs.org/hardware/crys...ncy-error/) all ELRS receivers should be pretty much equivalent within the feature set (eg ceramic antenna, no PA/LNA, PA/LNA, antenna diversity, receiver diversity). For the money, the BetaFPV Nano (and the $8 CycloneFPV knockoff) and the $20 SuperD are as good as you can get. • Posts: 2,401 Threads: 74 Likes Received: 1,346 in 1,004 posts Likes Given: 782 Joined: Apr 2022 Reputation: 41 14-Jul-2023, 04:14 AM (This post was last modified: 14-Jul-2023, 04:15 AM by Pathfinder075.) I pretty much use HM EP1 and 2 across the board for ELRS, without issue so far. EP2 is better for smaller quads you won't fly so far, EP1 suits pretty much everything from 85mm whoops to bigger quads. I haven't tried the diversity rx so far, but might do if I ever build anything that might benefit from it. Yes, the actual receiver was not in the bag. The only things that were was what I described. • |
