R-XSR bound to TX16S but not recieving input or talking to betaflight
#1
Think I've made a mistake buying FRSKY but it is what it is.

I've been through numerous other posts trying a host of different solutions. I've not been able to to get any of them to work so thought I'd post my own setup.

It's bound and connected with with Green and Blue lights on the RXSR and the TX16S Shows good signal strength but none on the controls are registering.

R-XSR firmware : RXSR_ACCST_2.1.0_Fport_FCC.frk

TX16s firmaware : 2.3.15-otx(1004ef7c)

TX16s Internal RF settings
Mode Multi FrSkyX2 D16
Module status V1.3.3.20 AETR
Channel Range CH1- CH16

set serialrx_inverted = ON
set serialrx_halfduplex = ON

(Images and dump file attached)

Any help would be great. I've been going round in circle trying all different combinations to get this working and still struggling.

I never understood why Diatone put a specific "F.Port" pad on the F7 FC's. F.Port can be connected to any TX pad on an F7 FC so there is no need for a dedicated "F.Port" pad. What UART is that even connected to? It's not clear from the documentation.

First of all, remove the white wire. When using F.Port you don't need the SBUS (out) wire connected to anything and it might be causing issues with it connected to the RX1 pad. If that doesn't fix your issue then try soldering the yellow wire to the TX1 pad instead. It looks like there is solder on that pad so you might have already tried that but maybe you also had the white SBUS wire connected to RX1 pad when you did that.

Also, what version of Betaflight are you running? If 4.4.x you need to select "F.Port" as the Radio Protocol in the Build Configuration section when flashing the firmware and you also need to select "SMARTPORT" for the Telemetry Protocol. Neither of those options are selected by default so you have to manually change them.

Amazing I've been fighting for so long. Looks like its was all down to that F.Port. Now I'm using TX1 as you suggested for the Smartport .

Just done a quick test and all inputs are working, it arms and disarms etc.. Now I can focus on tweaking the configuration settings and cleaning things up a little.

Thanks so much for your help.

I just found the online documentation for the Diatone Mamba F722 MK1 FC (link beloe) and the F.Port connection is stated as being on UART5. I'm sure that wasn't in their documentation before but maybe I just missed it. So you could have just enabled "Serial RX" on UART5 (instead of UART1) rather than moving the yellow wire to the TX1 pad, but if it's now working lust leave it as is.

That's still no excuse for Diatone to put a pad specifically labelled "F.Port" on the FC. It should just be labelled TX5 so it is then clear that it's just a normal UART TX pad that can be used for any external serial device and not just an F.Port receiver connection.

At least it's all working now. Happy flying Cool
