Prop color ?
#1
Question
If you are flying line of sight I can see an advantage to having 2 different colors for your props, either left and right or front and back would make it easier to see and orient.
But I can't see any reason to do it flying FPV.
Am I missing something ? Is there another reason ?

Nope. No reason whatsoever unless you are trying to add some style and pizzazz.

The reason I keep different colours front and back is in case I ever decide to do some LOS flying, so it gives me immediate options without having to pre-plan.

Kind of what I thought. But after seeing Johns post about breaking more CCW props I was just thinking that it would be easier and cheaper to just keep one color on hand.
I have only used 1 color and just wanted to know if I was missing something.

Thanks

On my Japalura, I usually fly light color up front and darker on the trailing edge Smile  Even though I fly FPV 95% of the time, every once in a while there is a pack to discharge and flitting about LOS can be fun.

Plus, I also feel it looks neat!  All the cool kids are doing it! Smile

With the amount of props I'm breaking currently, I use any color to get me back in the air. Once I'm a little better, matched props all around, hehe.

Deal
Here's the Deal

10" 6S FR10-G Long Range, 5" 6S Rooster, 5" 6S Badger, 5" 6S QAV-S, 5" 4S Badger, 5" 4S Phreakstyle Slam, 5" 6S Yema, 5" 4S Stark, 3" 4S Gecko, and a 3S 2.5" Tadpole, all of which are Crossfire.  Tinyhawk, Tinyhawk S, and a DJI Spark.  And projects on the bench....

I agree with Deal-E-O, today I went with blue and purple Dalprops because I knew I was gonna beat them up more so gotta use them up before opening a new pack of props.
New shiny props are just for pics Smile

I see the Lumenier V2's on your Japulara. I just got some in for my Tyro79 and will be trying them soon. But I have found that the Firefly 2 really affects the handling, kind of hard to make tight turns with the added momentum of the extra weight. I also just got a Caddix turtle that I will be modding my frame for. The lens is to big for the narrow uprights.

They are Scott! My favorite props so far. I have been really thinking about wanting an HD camera. With the R9 RX, it seems like this would be a great craft for catching HD vid, but I am afraid of upsetting it. Might get a Caddix Turtle or Split 2S for the Japalura. I have had the 3" out past 1500 meters now...without a bigger pack, it is pretty limited on flight time. What are you getting for times on a pack?

With the firefly2 on it, I am getting about 3.5-4 minutes with a 4S 650mah, fairly mild flying try to get good footage and compare jello with different props.
And if I use a 3S 850mah ( both about 80 grams ) I get about 5-5.5 minutes flying the same way.
AUW 306 grams.

Sweet! I was thinking about switch to larger capacity 3S in the quest for longer range flying. Thanks for sharing your experience Scott!

Even for FPV, I prefer colors that I can spot when it's laying on grass. Often we snap props in crashes, and the broken pieces just disappeared and buried. Obviously this is not good for environmental reasons Smile
