It comes in four colors - black, white, red, and grey. I have no issues with either color. To me, black could get hot, especially here in the Caribbean. Not only the plastic housing but the electronics. Opinions? I have heard that there can be some light leakage in the white ones. I’m not sure if this makes sense. Red could also have a heat issue due to the deep color. I’ve not read or heard of this but it’s a possibility. Grey is close enough to white so could there be light leak? Like I said, I’m 99% sure about the 04X but I’m open to any suggestions My ability to remember song lyrics from the ‘60s far exceeds my my ability to remember why I walked into the kitchen just now • Posts: 4,073 Threads: 75 Likes Received: 2,549 in 1,858 posts Likes Given: 3,949 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 121 I mean, red is pretty. According to this random image I found on the google of the temperature of various colors of shirts after being left in 80 degree sunlight for an hour, while the red will get hotter than white or gray, it won’t get as hot as black. The red also looks deep enough that you won’t have any light leak, but I can’t say for sure. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.knoe.co...utType=amp Dangerous operations. I use the DJI goggles which are black and oversized compared to the 04x mine are only ever exposed to the sun when they're on my head. I rarely fly over 5 minutes and at this time of year the last place I want to be standing is in directly sunlight if I can avoid it particularly when I'm going to be sweating into that goggle foam. Aside from that, simply throw a towel over them or put back in your bag when they're off your head. Get in the habit anyway that way even on a cool day the sun catching the optics just right will do damage. • Posts: 1,796 Threads: 62 Likes Received: 1,041 in 753 posts Likes Given: 98 Joined: Jan 2023 Reputation: 53 I could never understand why so many manufacturers make black goggles, certainly they will be used in the sun and many of them need fans to keep cool, so why make it even harder by going all black. I had a pair of Cobra V2s in black, and of course they overheated in the sun and I nearly lost my drone. Being the "coolest" I would go with white, as long you don't have very dirty fingers. • Posts: 951 Threads: 71 Likes Received: 339 in 253 posts Likes Given: 156 Joined: Dec 2021 Reputation: 19 14-Jun-2023, 06:59 AM (This post was last modified: 14-Jun-2023, 08:46 AM by BadRaven.) Definitely White! :-) PS.......... I have Eachine EV100, Eachine EV200D, and HDZero goggles. All are white. All give NO discernable nlight leakage. Since getting DJI V2, and being on the THIRD type of foam seal, which still isn't a perfect light proof fit, I have adopted the policy of wearing a very light grey hoodie, one basically a size too big. No, not trying to be 14 again............. Its an additional layer when the weather is cold, and the only layer when hot. Its comfortable, easy to pull the hood on and off as required with no interference to goggles, and stops any leakage, especially since we usually have to fly with the sun behind us and there is no shade option. I'd also point out that TWO members in our club have had cancer start behind the ears, said by specialists to be initiated and helped on by UV damage. • Posts: 21,294 Threads: 589 Likes Received: 8,982 in 6,647 posts Likes Given: 1,426 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 789 There's a good reason why most of the FPV goggles only used to come in white before the recent influx of coloured fashion goggles appeared on the scene. If proper QC has been done then the plastic of white goggle shells should be dense enough that there is no seepage of light through the shells, and/or there should be a dark coating of some sort on the inside of the shells. • Posts: 2,501 Threads: 76 Likes Received: 1,383 in 1,035 posts Likes Given: 804 Joined: Apr 2022 Reputation: 41 Light leakage happens. You can try and work around it, but IMO it always happens on some level. You get used to it and you can use things like caps and hats to remove it up to a point. Try Not, Do or Do Not - Yoda • |
