17-Apr-2018, 01:49 PM My positive power cable is partially cut is it ok if I electric tape temporarily? It is more whole then not. 17-Apr-2018, 02:04 PM Generally speaking, it is not a good idea to tape the main POSITIVE lead coming from the battery. IF it gets untapped somehow and comes in contact with anything conductive (keep in mind carbon fiber is conductive), bad things are very likely to happen. This cable potentially carries high levels of current. Additionally, the current carrying capability of that wire has been diminished proportionately to the number of strands of wire you have cut. "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" Don't worry, I have done a lot worse on the battery lead and used electrical tape to sort it, but I hold no responsibility if something goes wrong. It seems like you have the silicone covering still attached, so A BIT of tape, (only a few very tight rounds or it becomes too fat and unwinds) should be wrapped around it. Try to replace it as soon as possible though. Sirdude is correct, so this is only a TEMPORARY fix. And please can you tell me what props, frame and LEDs you are using? 17-Apr-2018, 09:52 PM I can probably answer for in4rit. Prop Hulkie Gemfan? Frame Kopis. The led comes with the frame. 18-Apr-2018, 02:10 AM If the wire is not too badly compromised, I would remove the plug, shrink wrap the damage and put the plug back on. Shrink wrap is better than tape. If more than 15-20% of the wire is damaged, I wouldn't use it. 20-Apr-2018, 11:28 AM (18-Apr-2018, 02:10 AM)Krohsis Wrote: If the wire is not too badly compromised, I would remove the plug, shrink wrap the damage and put the plug back on. Just take care when working wiyh battery leads and look up some tips for soldering XT60s if you haven't done one before. I keep them plugged into a spare male/female pluge to keep pins from moving. 09-May-2018, 11:32 PM If you are going through the trouble of resoldering the connector might as well just replace the whole lead. 10-May-2018, 03:25 AM |
