Orqa FPV.One - The Best FPV Goggles in the World!
#1
The first batch of the best FPV goggles in the world will be shipped from Croatia in the EU this week!!  Big Grin Big Grin

See latest update in This Post

I was Kickstarter backer #29, and the wait has been excruciating - but I am extremely excited now!  I've been pretty inactive with my flying since I moved to Georgia (USA) last year - all of my quad stuff remained packed until early this last summer.  I've never had a decent pair of goggles (cheap box goggles of various sorts, then EV100's which never worked with my eyes and had no diopter slots).  So when I saw the first reviews of the Orqa FPV.One, I thought "I'm gonna get these and learn to fly properly!". That was in January...

Now...finally!! Big Grin

I suspect I won't be the nearly the first to get the goggles, but when I do, you can count on a review (an unboxing quickly for sure!).  I'm pretty sure several KS backers and YouTube reviewers will get their goggles before I do. I will post my reviews here as soon as I can.  But, as I start seeing other reviews come online, I will try to post some of those here as well.  Feel free to join in!

To start things off - even though you've probably seen it before, here is Joshua Bardwell's first-look/review that got me hooked on these in the first place:

More very soon...(including a screen-shot of my shipping notice as soon as it arrives in my inbox!)

Is it weird that I'm actually pretty excited to see how this turns out?

I'm not part of the Kickstarter and will almost certainly never buy these (happy with my HD3s), but I really want to see these guys pull it off.

The ground is for dead people.

Not weird at all! It's nice to see an upstart push the envelope and everyone benefits from the competition. BTW, your HD3s won't last forever, ya know! Just think of the choices you'll have when the time comes! Big Grin

Answering a question I thought about in another thread. How a killer whale kills a great white:
Quote:Large predators like the orca tend to go after prey animals that have a lot of rich blubber on their body, which means that most of the shark is unappealing as a meal. Certain parts of a shark, however, are appealing to killer whales.

In each of the documented attacks, the orcas have made extremely precise bites on the sharks. Primarily, they target the livers, stomachs, and testes of the sharks. And this might actually explain what’s going on.

These things look pretty sweet. Perforated faux leather pad like AMG upholstery, nice touch. I hope they're everything you hoped for sloscotty, can't wait to see more of these things in the wild.

Still no word (as of this writing) on shipping.  However, there is a bit of an "event" happening today at 1pm US Eastern time.  MaiOnHigh is releasing a Youtube Premier Video that is a review of "Production Sample" that she got to fly with a couple of weeks ago in Malta.  I can't help but wonder if she was asked to wait until then to publish by Orqa.

Anyway, here is the link - you can sign up for a reminder if you don't want to miss it.  It will actually be the first review of something that is even close to the goggles we are all waiting for...

The DVR and quality make up for the price difference really.
And just watch out for first couple of batches, from experience, it's likely to have some bugs.

I am not too worried. payed 450$ and the ORQA will have much nicer features like HD DVR. Fatshark rushed the product and yes it is really nice but I prefer the ORQAs and no I dont think we got screwed..

I am curious when she uses the term "premiere". Makes me feel like there is something happening that we dont know..

I think it's a new YouTube feature.  It's treated sort of like a live-stream where the video producer sets a time to have an interactive chat while the video plays the first time.  But I also wonder if Orqa asked her to wait to release the video until after close of business today for some reason.  Maybe Ivan or Srdjan will pop into the chat with a special announcement.

Of course I could be full of  Poop

Seriously, they removed the eye relief feature which FS has? Honestly I see no reason to buy the Orqas seriously... Overpriced.

Well, no big announcement during the video. I asked MaiOnHigh about the timing of her video - she said she always publishes her videos at 6pm (local time) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (So not as a result of anyone asking her to.) It was her first Premiere, and it's kind of a cool feature. The video was not earth-shaking but still worth a watch.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a public holiday in Croatia so I guess no-one will hear anything until at least Monday. Unless they are working the weekend, but I guess the shipping companies probably aren't.
