Ordered the HDZERO mob6 with the eco camera and 28k motors
#31
Hi Rob,

Yeah, I was referring to getting the OSD information from the chip on
the FC. As I understand it, some digital (DJI?) do not use the OSD chip
that is onboard the FC; not sure I understand it all. Consequently, some
of the FC boards that are designed for use with HD digital do not have
an onboard OSD. At least that is how I perceive it. I don't really know
or understand how HD digital gets the OSD data.

Analog uses the OSD information from the OSD chip that is onboard
the FC. Hence, VIN for the camera, pick up OSD info, VOUT to the VTX
and then on to the goggles.

As I see it, the analog users now have to watch what FCs they buy
to ensure that it has an onboard OSD. Maybe I should start buying
up FC boards just to have on hand.

Anyway, I keep watching the playing field and how this whole video
thing works out.

The HDZero goggles have their own OSD which standardly displays things like goggle battery voltage, antenna signal strength, goggle channel, and some other info. This goggle OSD is not connected to the quad and does not display flight controller specific info such as quad battery voltage. Both the goggle OSD and quad OSD can be displayed simultaneously in your feed. You can turn the goggle OSD on and off if you prefer a cleaner 'work space'.

Hi FPVme,

Besides the quad battery voltage (which is more important than goggle battery
voltage), then it also does not display amp draw, amp usage, or any of the GPS
information such as altitude, speed, home direction, distance, or latitude &
longitude. Am I correct?

For me, I don't care about information related to the googles. What I need is
information related to the quad itself. The battery information and Betaflight
warning message are essential to me. If I can't get all that information in the
goggles, then the system is even less valuable than I had previously thought.

Thanks

As stated, both the goggle osd and quad osd are displayed in your goggle image. All standard osd items that you program on betaflight will show in the goggle if you hook everything up correctly. The HDZero goggle specific osd is a useful item and monitoring my video signal through it, as well as goggle voltage has been critical for various reasons while out flying.

Hi FPVme,

Ok, so it DOES connect to the FC to pick up OSD information. I misunderstood.
As long as the OSD has all the elements from the OSD that analog has, then that
would be fine. Yeah, the video signal strength might be nice. I never run goggles
close enough to the edge to need goggle battery voltage.

See, I have heard and read about issues people have getting FC OSD information
to display in the DJI goggles.

Anyway, Thanks.
