New BetaFPV Meteor 75 out of the box drifting to left
#1
Hi, I bought a new Meteor75 from BetaFPV... it is running on Crossfire.

When I started it with a fresh charged battery, it hover fine for approximately 30 secs... then it started to slowly drift to the left.

I have calibrated the Gyro in the betaflight.

It only happens after the whoop gets into the air for about approximately 30 secs or more.

When I disarm and let it rest and rearm, it hover fine again for about approximately 30 secs... then it started left drifting. The drift get worst gradually and I have to compensate it by right row.

If you accelerometer is drifting, then that is a difficult thing to fit. There is not really solution. But until you plan to hover all day in one place, I don't see any problem. When you fly in acro mode, that drift is pretry minuscule.

No, I am not planning to hover all day. It happens mid flight when I am flying in Horizon mode... it started to roll right, so I did my test by hovering and found this issue.

So it affected my flying experience while in horizon mode. I have not fly in acro mode yet because I am flying indoor and I am not really good in acro yet.

There are threads talking about this issue like here: https://intofpv.com/t-betafpv-accelerometer-issues

but there is still no solution. So I thought to share my experience here and hopeful to get any attention of those who had this issue and possible solution to it.

Unfortunately, accelerometer drift does happen in all quad to some extent. But really severe drift is not common and is a slight that something is wrong. But if you flight acro, then the accelerometer is usually not needed. Oscar has a blog entry, but it doesn't work because it looks like some of the settings have been removed.

Thanks for the reference. I will look into that. If I still cannot find any solution, then probably it is just some isolated issue happening to me only. I probably have to get used to this inconvenience of having to compensate right roll.

After reading that reference link, it is recommending to increase the dead band. I have no clue to what is dead band, but I will try it later after my working hours. Hopefully it will help. Will post result later.

Edit1: It seems that a lot of users having issues because the command for dead band is not working in the later version of betaflight.
I did a bit of googling and found this: http://dronehitech.com/en/cleanflight-stick-deadband/ <-- Damn... this is for CleanFlight.
(I have not make any changes yet, so I will post result later. The above link is for reference later.)
