There's a gap in the TOOLS area yet but I've read some posts here and articles on Oscar's site in that regard, just haven't processed it all together. So far I only have my Taranis radio that I'm practicing with in LiftOff, nothing else has been purchased/ordered. My current draft of items is listed at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing I do not have any particular preference in terms of racing/freestyle/video-making but if there would be some preference I'd say it's going to be freestyle for the most part. I will be very glad for all comments and suggestions on how to improve/optimize my build in terms of both performance and cost (compromising where it makes sense in respect to the fact that the drone or it's parts are going to get smashed in foreseeable future ). Please let me know in case you would prefer for me to copy the part names/links over into this post directly and I can do that. Are they really that bad? :-) I originally picked them since I figured that as the motors are kind of exposed they are going to get destroyed quite often, at least at the beginning, but then Esy told me he actually didn't break any yet (hard to believe - haha), so should I revisit that and go with the higher tier? • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 The DYS Samguk Shu are a similar price point and (the 2800kV) got great reviews from Stu at UAV Futures, if I remember correctly I think Grumpy Trev might have given them a 9/10 for price and quality? Maybe get another RHCP antenna for the VRX, just to be safe, its handy to have a spare too, the one on the quad is usually pretty exposed, and can often get damaged. The best budget motor I have used is the rcx rs2206 and the rcx nk2306. I personally recommend the Returner R5 2306 2450KV... one of my favourite right now. https://www.banggood.com/BrotherHobby-Re...rehouse=CN I don't recommend the Betaflight F4 for a beginner... the soldering is so difficult! I would rather use the Matek CTR, or the Kakute F4 AIO V2. https://www.banggood.com/Matek-Systems-B...mds=search Get the Eagle 2 FPV camera instead... only $2 more than the Swift 2 https://shop.runcam.com/runcam-eagle-2/ FPV Antenna... make sure you get the SMA version! Very important! Haven't decided on LiPo charger yet? Take a look at the iSDT Q6 Lite: https://www.banggood.com/ISDT-Q6-Lite-20...rehouse=CN and PSU for the charger: https://www.banggood.com/12V-120W-10A-Po...rehouse=CN 3M Double sided tape... you will need some of these to mount your ESC, possibly your RX and vTX too https://www.banggood.com/3m-Ultrathin-Wa...mds=search Get some heatshrink and zip tie too! The patch antenna is linear polarized, not circular polarized, so it doesn't matter. You will need SMA and not RP-SMA as Oscar mentioned. weller wes51d I personally would get a bench soldering station like the Hakko FX-888 or Weller WES51D. The TS-100 is great for the field, but I would not want to use it to solder everything. • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 I use ts-100 for everything and I really don't need anything else. For me, it's perfect for building miniquads. The brotherhobby 2306 Deadpool motors are on sale at fpvmodel.com for under 19USD a piece. I haven't tried them, but looks to be good. https://www.fpvmodel.com/brotherhobby-de...g1342.html But on the other hand, it is probably easier to learn to fly (assuming you are a beginner) with motors that are not powerful (racerstar motors are in that category). If you want to experiment a budget motor I would like to try, but haven't, check out the dragonfly motor. It looks quite promising on paper: https://www.fpvmodel.com/dragonfly-hurri...g1385.html Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 Yea I use the TS100 for everything too You can flash the soldering iron with the custom firmware when you get it, it will become more powerful (only takes 3 minutes) Here is a guide on what equipment to get, and tips on soldering https://oscarliang.com/soldering-guide/ Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 13-Feb-2018, 12:49 PM (This post was last modified: 13-Feb-2018, 12:53 PM by Drone0fPrey.) Also look into some Motor Protectors. I know they have saved my butt a few times. It's a little bit of added weight but saves money while learning. Looks like sunnysky motors and if they are, I would guess they are pretty good for a budget motor as well. https://www.banggood.com/LDARC-Kingkong-...rehouse=CN • |
