LOS Sim
#1
Hey guys. I know this is a FPV forum  Big Grin but do you have some good options for LOS Acro simulator?
I know that Velocidrone has LOS camera view but I wonder if there is something better for this purpose.
I started flying multirotor stabilized LOS and I still love it. Just wanted to take it to the next step. I can already do some flips, rolls, circles, basic stuff but I want to get better.

Thanks

I did previously look but I don't know of one because I also enjoy a bit of LOS flying, but like you I can only do it successfully in angle mode without crashing.

The LOS options in the current sims are crap. Certainly in both VelociDrone and LiftOff. I tried them and I just keep crashing. It's actually easier in real life which defeats the point of having LOS options in a sim.

If you do find anything worthwhile then please let me know.

Yes I also feel the point of view or camera tracking a little bit awkward. Maybe it's not easy to make a los sim. I find it easier on real life too. I'm designing a los basic track on velocidrone, maybe it can help.

In velocidrone you can zoom in in LOS mode by scrolling the mouse wheel. Helps sometimes.

I also feel the simulators lacking. Hard with depth perception.

Cameraless whoop is good for daily practice. Soon you will be powerlooping your livingroom.

Depth perception - I think you hit the nail on the head. That is actually probably what the real problem is with LOS in 2D sims.

I don't think taking a hand off the transmitter to zoom in with the mouse while trying to fly LOS acro is going to be very practical but I'll take a look at the zoom options and see they might help at all.

Would be nice to output stereo view to a pair of fatsharks via hdmi. Would that be doable?

Maybe we could send a feature request to Velocidrone.

Edit: I did as such and this was the response:

Velocidrone support:
Quote:This is basically VR support - the game engine is capable of it but the work required to do it versus the people who would use it don't make it an attractive option to develop.

We always have to consider development investment versus sales and this one is fairly low down that list - despite it probably being quite interesting from a development perspective I don't think I would get the return on doing it.

---------------

When we run out of stuff to do then will probably have a look at it Smile

Nice! That can be the future of LOS simulation   Smile , it would make our life easier for sure.
I saw some videos of Ash on YT and they seem really nice. Figure eights, some nice acro freestyle. Nothing like mine.
My drone goes up on the horizon really fast and that becomes disorienting.
I think I need more training  Tongue

flightmode0 just nailed it with the zoom option.  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Practiced with zoom all in and it makes a major difference. The only problem is that I can only run velocidrone @800x600 windowed mode, so it's really claustrophobic, nevertheless, just finished flying LOS with my Tyro and it really helped, A LOT!

Thanks
