Having success in a sim
#1
Ok, my sim experience has been crappy at best with only having a old laptop with minimal power. I TRIED, Liftoff, Velocidrone, even on low graphics..it was a terrible experience. Flowstate, and a few others not no graphic hungry faired better… NOTE-I didn’t know Jack sh*t about betaflight, rates or CAMERA ANGLE.
Switch to today, I have obtained a gaming laptop..I installed liftoff and it didn’t take 10mins to start.. that’s not an exaggeration..
I started where I left off..the haybails.. felt a little “wild”.. Dropped the camera angle from 45 degrees.. added a little EXPO… BOOM B*TCHES!!
A much better experience!! So.. anyone starting out wanting to try FPV, And with a SIM… Make sure your system will run it.. and set up the quad / betaflight for the level u are at.. if u don’t know how … ask!! I promise your sticktime will be more fun and productive…

You've probably seen on my other threads that i have the two Liftoff games.

So on my Linux system (AMD A8-9600, 12GB DDR4, GTX1050Ti and some SSD's). It will run Liftoff (just), but only two maps will work (Pit and Hangar). Liftoff Micro runs well, except Sealand with the wind, CPU limited when it comes to doing the physics calcs, at a guess.

On Windows (Gaming Spec desktop, RTX2080Ti, i5 6500, 16GB DDR4, m.2 SSD) it runs sweet at max everything, but Windows hates my Radiomaster T8 Lite.

I think on Linux it is CPU limited. Currently looking for a cheap 2nd or 3rd Gen Ryzen 5, to replace the 1st Gen APU that's in at the minute, which should hopefully let me run all maps on Liftoff.

If you have a very low end system, such as a 2nd or 3rd Gen Intel with Intel HD graphics, then FPVFreerider/FPVFreerider Recharged is your friend. It will run pretty well on anything older. I think the minimum specs are like a Core 2 Duo with a 6 series Nvidia. Both games will set you back $15 and the extra maps are worth the extra $3. Works on Windows, Linux, MacOS.

Older low-spec laptops give a pretty good experience with the Orqa FPV.Skydive and CurryKitten simulators.
