Kit Bag options?
#1
What do folk on here use for packing/carrying their FPV kit? I've come from the DJI camera drone world and used the basic DJI Mini3 kit bag, which actually worked quite well. I could fit the drone, 3 batteries, charger and TX in a very compact little bag that was ideal for grabbing when heading out to do some flying. At the moment I've got a bunch of bags and boxes for the bits and pieces needed for FPV flying but it's not neat, compact or that user friendly. I appreciate there's more kit needed for FPV flying but I'm sure there are more elegant and practical solutions than what I've currently got. I'm wondering if a decent sized dSLR camera bag or similar could be used. I don't (well, at least not yet!

CubeFPV release a nice video on a DIY FPV backpack

As I fly micros I just prefer to be stealth,  I just use a Rugged Xtremes Backpack

and throw in my custom made little drone boxes what I featured in a post on this forum https://intofpv.com/t-how-do-you-store-y...and-whoops.

What I like about the backpack I use is has a build pocket, or case for glasses, that where I put my used batteries, easy to get out of the pack when I get home.

I have an old camera backpack my sister gave me. We'll padded and reinforced to protect gear, but it's admittedly small. My preference is my airplane carry on backpack. It's the TSA approved carry on size which is quite large. It also unzips all the way down on both sides so you can fully open it like a clanshell. I think this is the ideal design for fpv gear for rapidly deploying gear. Then inside the backpack I have various cases and bags with things like goggles and batts. I do somewhat haphazardly toss the drones into the bag, which may not be ideal when I'm hopping fences into bandos, but all in all has worked out well.

I use a Decathlon ski rucksack for the actual carrying, but the Torvol Session bag looks like something I might buy down the line. If you mean actual drone storage, I posted what I use on the thread Cyberess started. Basically a cheapo plastic toolbox (from Home Bargains). I can get into it a set of goggles, radio, 2-3" quad and a Lipo safe bag containing 10-15 450mAh 3S Lipos. If you are flying an urban bando, throw on a hi viz and walk in carrying a toolbox, no one will bat an eyelid, perfect urban camo (and yes I have done this a couple of times). Tongue

Thanks for the replies and ideas. The "toolbox" idea might be worth further exploration. I have used plastic food storage boxes (ie "tupperware") for drone bits in the past.

Yeah, if you look like trades, then you'd be surprised how often no one checks. Hi vis vest and toolbox and possibly a helmet of some sort and you can go most places and no one public wise will bat an eyelid. It's all about not looking out of place. if someone sees a bunch of people climbing through a gap in a fence, then it looks suspicious. If the same person sees someone with a hi vis, carrying a toolbox and maybe wearing a hard hat, they won't give it a second thought. Even if they ask, have the right answers. Anyway, not a tutorial on not standing out. Tongue

I'd throw a high vis in your toolbox.

For parts storage I use these.
