Karen interaction from quad flying turned POSITIVE..
#16
Man, Rob, you are a bigger man than me. That would absolutely drive me up the wall if I had to jump all those hoops to placate a Karen. With that said, I am also super careful not to fly when and where there may even be the remote perception of impropriety.

I have been lucky. Despite living in a very Karen-rich environment, I have had *zero* (knock on wood) negative encounters. Literally, the worst was one guy insisting I worked for the CIA lol. Otherwise, it is mostly elderly folks mesmerized by the technology (often they are retired engineers).

I also am constantly on the defensive. If I so much as think I may have bothered a bystander, I will usually make my way to them and apologize in advance if I bothered them at all. In all cases, I was not a bother.

I also make a point to slip in the laws in conversations I strike up with curious passer-by's ... this is not to be friendly, but more my paranoia thinking they are just gathering info on me so they can report me. So I'll mention FAA sub250 rules and even throw in the FCC requirement when I'm feelin' particularly defensive lol followed up with ... I have all my licenses and oh yeah, these weigh 249g so yea ... thanks for playin', next? lol

And did you admit to it?  I probably would have.

I can think of much worse places to be accused of working for.  Also remember you have to mention that you are testing out satellite tracking technology and by being near you/bothering you, they are making themselves the next tracking target.  Most people will run a mile if they are that type of nut. What’s this Gee eye aye thing? I’m not familiar with it,

…satellite tracking? Nah, that’d be super expensive. We, errr, I mean, they, wouldn’t bother with that unless someone saw something they shouldn’t.

What did you say your name was? Is that your car over there? Tongue

*turns head and covers mouth* we’ve got a 17-95-00-B here, copy?
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

My response had a lot to do “where I was, what I was doing, and my capacity.. if I was somewhere else at another time and some Karen started In on me.. I would have been nice, untill it time no longer to be nice..

I work to AVOID people. If people are around, then I am not.
On the down side, it does make it challenging to find fly locations.
