The parts alone must come to more than that They really must be bottom of the barrel components. I guess if anyone is prepared to risk losing $140 then they should just get one and send it, then hope they will get if back again Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 Seems like a nice cheap quad for long range suicide missions Posts: 5,850 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 2,774 in 2,236 posts Likes Given: 7,601 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 97 (10-Jun-2021, 10:44 AM)kafie1980 Wrote: Seems like a nice cheap quad for long range suicide missions Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If you lose it, you are only out about 160 dollars, but not the effort to build it. Why 160 ? because it does NOT include a receiver so add the cost of a long range receiver. But hey, if it doesn't fall apart or get lost on the first flight, then it might already be worth it. It wouldn't be as bad as losing a custom built craft. I think it might be worth consideration; I have added it to my PyroDrone "Wish" list. • Posts: 21,168 Threads: 581 Likes Received: 8,917 in 6,597 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 (10-Jun-2021, 12:38 PM)iFly4rotors Wrote: Yeah, that's what I was thinking. In that case make it at least $180 down the toilet Because you will also need a cheap sacrificial LiPo / Li-ion as well Posts: 6,091 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,718 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 you could save 20bucks by choose the tyro129 for the toilet xD Posts: 1,505 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 713 in 524 posts Likes Given: 477 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 93 (10-Jun-2021, 04:03 PM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: you could save 20bucks by choose the tyro129 for the toilet xD I completely forgot about the tyro129! I doubt I'll be in the market for a cheap 7" anytime soon, but it would be interesting to see how they compare. An edge for me {should I decide to buy something} is that the Darwin is available from PyroDrone, but I can only find the Tyro129 on Banggood and I just won't buy from them. Plus the Darwin is a little cheaper at $140 + $20 for a receiver = $160 verses the Tyro129 at $185. I don't count batteries since you have to buy those for either craft. Oh yeah, free shipping from PyroDrone. At the moment, I have two 7 inchers in progress so that will likely be enough for a while. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 10-Jun-2021, 11:38 PM (This post was last modified: 10-Jun-2021, 11:39 PM by kafie1980.) If you guys want to chip in and buy it....I'll fly it out as far as she will go just to see. Hi Krohsis, Well, you might know that I don't run either of those things; an action cam or Marco Polo. However, I did just buy a Runcam 5 Orange - 4K Action Camera... so I do plan on using that on my most reliable quad, but certainly not on a potential suicide run. Yeah, I never did get the Marco Polo. I just couldn't justify the cost. Thing is, if my quad crashes in the forest, high in a tree, in the thick Florida brush, or any body of water; it will just be gone...even knowing the precise location will not help as I would have no means to retrieve it anyway. So, I decided to use a buzzer and take my chances that I can get close enough to hear it and actually get my quad back. I do find this Darwin 7 inch BNF interesting and intriguing. I don't think one could be built any cheaper. So, it might still be a decent option if someone wants a 7 inch rig. In fact, I would rather risk that for a high risk, sketchy run than my custom builds. So...who knows. • Posts: 3,533 Threads: 265 Likes Received: 2,610 in 1,545 posts Likes Given: 3,893 Joined: Feb 2018 Reputation: 78 I was speaking for myself, or most of my LR buds. I do't believe that quad is worth the money. But perhaps for the guy or gal who doesn't like to build or mess with BF, it might be worth it for them. Since the majority of LR qiad people only go out 2 miles or less it may be worth a look for some. |
