KAKUTE F7 FLIGHT CONTROLLER - Steel Screws?
#1
Hi Everyone,

Has anyone used M3 steel screws for their Kakute F7 FC? I have searched for literature on this particular FC but cannot find whether it will short it out or not, any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks!

The easiest way to check is use a DMM. On continuity mode, check if the metal ring around the mount holes are connected to the ground. If it is not, then you can use metal screws. If it is, then I would consider using nylon screws.

The metal ring around the screw hole is connected to ground (just like most FC out there).
It shouldn't cause a short using metal screws, but i would advice against it because it doesn't use rubber grommets.
For the Kakute F7, nylon hardware is better because it can take the impact in crashes, and break in extreme cases. With metal screws, the impact will completely pass on to the board and more likely to damage it.

See the video below that was posted by JB yesterday. However, take note of what Oscar said regarding lack of shock absorbtion. As they say, the choice is yours Smile

Grounding to frame doesn't effect the quad. But now you made a bigger ground plane. Especially on crash or loose wire, there is a higher chance for short. I make it a habit to avoid it if I can.
