Can I connect my DJI fpv v2 goggles to and dji fpv remote controller 2 to other drons
#1
I bought the DJI FPV combo, and now want to get other drones. I know that the goggles work with any drones with a dji O3 air unit, but if I buy a drone with the air unit will it work with the dji fpv remote controller 2 also? And what drones should I get if they both work? I appreciate any advice, thanks.

If you have the DJI Goggles 2 or DJI Goggles Integra then you can only use the grey DJI Controller 2 with an O3 Air Unit equipped quad. It's not compatible with the first generation DJI Air Unit or a Caddx Vista / RunCam Link. If you have the DJI FPV Goggles V2 then you are out of luck and won't even be able to use the DJI Controller 2 with an O3 Air Unit equipped quad.

Personally I wouldn't advise using the DJI control link for a DIY FPV quad. You are much better off using an ExpressLRS equipped transmitter with an ELRS receiver on the quad.

Below is Oscar's handy DJI compatibility cross-referencing chart...

If you mean the reason why the DJI Controller 2 isn't compatible with DJI FPV Goggles V2 then it's just because that's the way DJI work. They don't always make their newer products compatible with their older products.

If you are asking why I advise using a separate RC link, it's because with an air units also being used for the RC link it means that the same 5.8GHz link is being used for both the video feed and the RC link, so if you lose video feed you will also lose the RC link and the ability to control your quad (i.e. so you can initiate a manual GPS Recue command or try to punch out to a higher altitude in an attempt to get the vide feed to reconnect). By using a separate resilient RC link such as 2.4GHz or 900MHz ExpressLRS which is on a different frequency band to that of the 5.8GHz video link, the RC link will always outperform the video link, so if you lose video you still have control of the quad which at least gives you some chance of trying to get the video link to re-establish itself, or to get the quad back to you via GPS Rescue. Of course you can set up automatic GPS Rescue in the event of an RXLOSS scenario, but depending on how and where you are flying it might not be appropriate to have that trigger automatically. Using separate redundant systems for the video and RC links where possible is always the best approach.

Ok good answer, Thanks! Is there no benefit to keeping it simple? I know what you're are saying is correct and makes sense with respect to redundancy but by the very nature of only one device makes the drone simpler and lighter. I guess that is the pros and cons of the situation.
Yes the question wasn't really thought through, I understand how DJI work, they are a bit the same as apple - always ushering you forward by dropping products off the bottom, leaving the middle products working, so you can add a new widget then depreciating the middle products to the point of being unsupported - all the while you sign your life away having to activate this and that.
