When doing so any idea on the best kit out there? I don't want something small were I cant take outside and rome a little bit. I was looking at this walkera in the link with the Devo 7 would there be any reason to stay away from this? http://www.walkera.com/index.php/Goods/info/id/34.html • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 Hey Elliep, Welcome to IntoFPV. So I looked at the link you posted and had a heck of a time finding what kind of flight controller it had but eventually saw that it has an F3... that's a good start although who knows what kind of stuff they've done to it. It's pretty light @370g all up weight considering that includes a 1300 mAh 4S battery. Considering all the extra plastic on it, I'd be a little skeptical. If it actually is that light with all the plastic on it then I'm impressed It also seemed a little pricey at first but then I realized it includes the radio and reciever and battery and all the other RTF goodies so I guess that's a good thing. I'd say if you're willing to install your own receiver though I'd start with an ARF (Almost ready to fly, or sometimes Add reciever and fly depending on who you ask). Stu on youtube as UAVFutures reviews tons of ARF quads and gives a good overview of each. On the plus side Unseen has given good reviews of the Walkera radios, although I think he flys a Devo 10. so... in the end... my opinion on it is... ummmmm... "I dunno if I would go with that... but you could try it out and see!" carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 It does look pretty expensive, to me at least. I recently came across 'indestructible quads' who seem to provide some of the best customer service I have ever seen! They have a couple of RTF options with a turnigy i6S transmitter, personally I have always liked the idea of a deviated Devo radio... Also saw this review by UAV futures of the BFlight 210 which really impressed me with its performance and low price! I guess what would you guys recmonend in getting to get started? Also possibly a transmitter that I can use with liftoff to would be a plus to I don't have to use the cheap plastic thing I got. • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 Personally, I would get a TX and do some simulator flying 1st, or a little brushed micro that you can practice rate/acro mode with inside too. When starting out expect to crash A LOT!! With an expensive option like the Walkera I would be worried about damaging it... Tom I have been using liftoff for a little bit, only thing that sucks I have a cheap usb radio (dynam) it would be nice to get a radio I can use on the computer and in the field. It's a very complete package, but the Devo 7 radio is a bit of a minus as it can't run DeviationTX should you want to upgrade the radio later on. I'd say that if you want something that's hassle free and works out of the box, it's an OK deal. A little on the expensive side, but at least it will work straight out of the box, which is not something you can rely on with some of the Chinese vendors like Banggood and Gearbest. If you want an honest and independent review of the F210, have a look at SeByDocKy's review: http://www.drone-maniac.com/1697-2/ • Posts: 87 Threads: 23 Likes Received: 8 in 8 posts Likes Given: 3 Joined: Sep 2017 Reputation: 0 (14-Sep-2017, 12:29 PM)Tom BD Bad Wrote: It does look pretty expensive, to me at least. Were would you buy this at? • Posts: 87 Threads: 23 Likes Received: 8 in 8 posts Likes Given: 3 Joined: Sep 2017 Reputation: 0 Since I'm using liftoff and would like to get a transmitter I can use on this and the field I am looking at the tarnis xd9. Would there be a good quad I can get that I can just bind and go. If not is there anything close and what would I have to do? • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 You can get the one in the video in a bind-and-fly version for frsky (which is what the taranis would work with). Available ready to fly from GetFPV: http://www.getfpv.com/ready-to-fly-quadc...frsky.html They also have many other quads you can choose from that you don't need to build yourself and they have a good reputation. • Posts: 97 Threads: 16 Likes Received: 51 in 28 posts Likes Given: 27 Joined: Jun 2017 Reputation: 0 If there was me I would to this way like most said Get Taranis and (Diy TX module ) So you can fly most brushed quads from stores Get good on simulator and keep playing with brushed one till you good at doing los. Go to park and do loads off "Dog waking" with your quad just fly back and forwards and so on Next I would do is learn about hobby don't buy RTF remember you will be crashing ALOT trust me when I say ALOT I mean it While learning to fly learn to build And by time you will be ok to fly real boy you should be ok to build one. Remember when you fly RTF and crash and broke whats then ??? if you don't know about it you wont be able to fix it . So you may end up quitting the hobby or loosing interest in it at all because of this. Trust me crashing is so frustrating some times you spend more time on bench then on field. It takes time prepare for this its not easy one. took me 2 years to get where im now And I did started same got RTF crash after crash ended up quad sat on shelf without me even bother looking at it. So here is my opinion about it Regards Posts: 87 Threads: 23 Likes Received: 8 in 8 posts Likes Given: 3 Joined: Sep 2017 Reputation: 0 The biggest thing is that I don't know what receiver for the transmitter, transmitter for the fpv goggles, esc, motor, and battery all go together. I know how to build a computer and if it is like that there is a good chance I won't get something or it won't be compatible. Also I don't know how to solder. I have been messing around with liftoff and after some time I would just like to go outside and fly the actual thing. Im open to not going the rtr route but would need to know on what to buy to get something up in the air. • Posts: 97 Threads: 16 Likes Received: 51 in 28 posts Likes Given: 27 Joined: Jun 2017 Reputation: 0 (14-Sep-2017, 04:43 PM)elliep Wrote: The biggest thing is that I don't know what receiver for the transmitter, transmitter for the fpv goggles, esc, motor, and battery all go together. Order soldering station Number 1 as I can see you already know what is ESC/FC/MOTOR/FRAME Get your self a list of parts and create post here trust me u ill get loads advice on pars Regards Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 Good advice from Darozas. Learning inevitably means crashing. Even the toughest frames break if you hit things hard enough. ESCs go up in smoke from blocked propellers, VTX antennas get snapped off and break which can also kill your VTX, puddles of water have a strong magnetic attraction for quadcopters and ghost tree branches will jump out at you when you least expect it. While it costs a bit more to get started, particularly if you need to buy tools, a soldering station and all the small things that any hobbyist needs to build stuff, being able to build and repair your own craft will save you lots of money in the end. It's also incredibly satisfying to choose the parts you need, put them all together, get things set up and see the fruit of your labour take to the air! There are many build threads here on the forum where people talk about what parts they chose and why. There are also lots of "How about this set of parts?" threads which you'll find very helpful. Soldering isn't hard, it's all about getting a good soldering station and practising before you start attacking a flight controller! |
