Getting started Opentx with iMac questions
#1
My taranis x-lite pro is on its way and I’ll likely have it by weekend.
How opentx friendy is apple or an iMac?
I didn’t give it much thought but is opentx apple compatible and make opentx more complicated?
I plan on switching out the receivers in a few planes and seeing how the x-lite pro feels in hands while flying but where do I start with opentx.
Transmitter won’t have an SD card so I need to get one and start there?

I have found videos but they are mostly windows.
I have had problems with iMac not working with software designed for windows.

OpenTX Companion works fine on macOS. Download the DMG and install it like any other. First time you run it, you may get a complaint about "not certified developer". Then just go into Preferences/Security and Privacy and tell it to run anyway. You should only have to do that the first time you run it.

OpenTX is written in C++ using the Qt cross-platform framework, so a single code base "just works" when compiled for the chosen target platform.

If you go to the bottom of the latest OpenTX release web page (which is currently 2.3.7) at the following link you will see the Mac OS version of the OpenTX Companion. Just download and install/run that. It will work exactly the same as the Windows and Linux versions so you can just follow any Windows tutorials and guides.

Thanks,
I didn’t get a SD card with taranis and I have a few around the house but I don’t know what type and size to use.
What size and type of memory cards are recommended for Taranis?

You don't need a high capacity or a fast card. I'm using an old 2GB card in mine but it's difficult to get those now. 16GB is a common size so I would just use something like that. It doesn't need to be anything fancy. Just use a reputable make from a reputable supplier that you know won't be a counterfeit so you don't have issues.

I'm assuming that was supposed to be an emoji and not a puzzled reply (?)

You can't use emoji's on your phone/tablet because they come out as a question mark. You have to use the built in forum "Smilies" Smile
