Is my flight contoller fried after crash?
#1
I am using a mamba f405 mk2 flight controller, after a crash it stopped functioning properly. When I plug it into the esc and power it with a LIPO, the motors make the 3 start up beeps, but not the 2 extra beeps that would indicate the fc is connected. all FC lights come on solid, the gyro and MCU light blink for a few seconds then go solid. The flight controller seems to be powering the connected components, can't arm the quad, no VTX signal. When I plug it into my computer with beta flight 3 lights come on solid, GYRO, MCU, and one of the power LED's. Betaflight says no gyro or accelerometer detected, no connection to dataflash (reads 0.0mb). Im able to successfully flash firmware, but it did not change anything. Is it fried or is something else going on here

Sounds like ur 5v regulator got damaged..there are a couple “work arounds”. Do a search, you got nothing to loose.
Curious, how hard was the crash? Any debris (sticks/ect) get into the FC area? Was it a “slammed stack”?? I have multiple mamba stacks (same one).. have fed them. Asphalt and concrete and they are still flying.

I have 7 different Mamba FCs that all have bad 5v regulators from crashes - Seems like that is definitely a weak point in their design

If I remember Mamba had a great track record.. untill it was discovered there were “counterfeit “ f405 FCs out there ..
I thought I got some fake ones when I had quads flip out after full throttle..
I later discovered motor screws were too long causing A desync
Good thing I didn’t toss them out (this was when they were only $20 a pop
I did notice some board layouts are NOT the same..QC bad? Design change? Fake? Who knows

FYI

STM MCU and gyro use 3.3V.
ESC Silabs BB2 uses 5V.

Typically..
Power comes from USB (5V) or 5V reg, and meets up after going through diodes. THEN, that 5V is dropped with 3.3V LDO.

Missing BLHeli response chime is no DShot setup (blank chip), cut communication or dead MCU.
But if you can connect to betaflight, MCU is OK.
Your MCU might just got zapped. Re-flash and apply defaults.

measure voltage on 5V and 3.3V pads with LIPO.
