Thanks Lads,

I will try all those things.

I had a very good friend from the olden days who is quite good on computers drop in yesterday and he left that afternoon just as puzzled as I am.

He confirmed that what I was doing seemed correct but we still could not get any comms. It is all so weird. And why can't Impulse find the FC?

Anyway I have been so preoccupied with this stupid FC stuff that I have completely ignored a very important event and one that confirmed in my mind just how predictable you lot are.

I posted two very detailed articles on the Opera House story with not a single like or comment but the moment I posted the juicy bits on that story there you all were,  Slo, BD, Reno and FF all clapping and cheering.

What did I say earlier. I was going to tease you all by drawing the story out. I hope it worked. I just know you all so well.   Big Grin

Anyway keep up the good work Lads and keep those suggestions coming.

We must stumble across the answer eventually.

KK

Under "Advanced", check "Content settings".  If you have several things that are disabled or "not allowed", try "allowing" each one (or all) to see if that solves anything. (In particular, allow Javascript and Popups - but I'd try them all.)

Slo, Look what I found under settings/content/flash and the under "Block". (See photo attached)

Does this mean those apps are being stopped from working correctly?

I will try to remove the block shorthly (If that is what it means).

PS Java script was permitted.
PPS I cannot seem to unblock these apps. How do I do that?

FF, correct I have tried a bunch, many times and my friend confirmed that the USB cable was correct.

The only thing I can think of to suggest is to remove and reinstall the driver packs, but i'm sure that you have done that a million times already. I doubt it will make you feel any better, but I had issues when I 1st tried to use betaflight with my new (actually downgrade from my busted desktop) laptop took me 2 days of sending the laptop to sleep before I realized that I needed to restart the bloody thing, to get the drivers to work  Doh

BD, "The Law of Sod". I like that. I am quite familiar with that law but I did not know its name. Now I do.

I have added, removed, rewound, reinstalled, deleted, updated drivers until I am black in the face but all to no avail.

But I must admit I am inclined not to restart the computer after each action.

I will pay attention to that from now on.

Thanks BD.

KK, I don't think that is what is stopping them from working.  (Betaflight configurator is listed as "Blocked" on mine, but it works fine.)  However,  I would change your overall Flash setting and turn off "Ask first", and just set "Allow" and see if that makes a difference.

Here is what my content settings look like:

Hi Slo, on both my computers I only get a choice between "Ask first" or "Block". I cannot find an "Allow" command. However even on Ask First nothing has changed. Still no go.

So I am waiting for another friend to get back from holidays. He is an IT guy making his living from taming computers. He seems to be my last hope.

Stay tuned.   Rolleyes

Yippee!!

Another old friend that I have not seen for many a year dropped in this morning and he managed to re-establish comms with the Hero and Betaflight. And here I was crying about having no friends left in Sydney.

At the moment it is still loaded with Naze 3.2.2 firmware so i am going to try to fly Wooden It with that firmware installed.

So we will be back in business shortly, jst a little bit poorer and hopefully a little bit wiser.   Big Grin

Amazing!

Hi FF, thanks for that.

I am using Windows 10 on both computers.

I am not sure what the actual problem was but my mate Snow went in via the bootloader and managed to re-load Naze firmware.

It appears that there is some sort of block for other firmware and none of the Hero 32 firmware versions would load which is a bit odd.

Anyway we ended up with the Naze 3.2.2 firmware successfully loaded and comms re-established with all three configurators. I could not get comms on Baseflight.

I am really busy coming up on Christmas so things may progress slowly for a whie but I will be back in the air shortly.   Wink

KK

Howdy Boys,

Spent some time today re-familiarising myself with the Hero FC and Betaflight.

I must say that at this point I am really beginning to appreciate the simpliciity of the DJI Naza M and the Assisstant.

I had forgotten the complexity of the Betaflight set-up.

Still I have flown it successfully before so I will no doubt fly it successfully again.

Just a matter of time and diligence.

Howdy Boys,

I made an interesting discovery today while working on my Hero FC.

As you all know I have four configurators on my computer, Betaflight, Cleanflight, iNAV and Baseflight.

The first three all loaded successfully and communicated successfully however Baseflight would not communicate.

More importantly once I tried to connect with Baseflight all of the other three programs stopped connecting until I closed all four apps and restarted my computer after which the first three all loaded and connected successfully again.

So for some reason Baseflight was upsetting the operation of the other three.

I re-tested this several times and finally deleted Baseflight from my computer.

This would certainly explain some of the difficulties I was having getting my Hero to connecct.

All is going well at the moment and Flight testing begins again in the next few days.

Regards,

KK.

Yay, Well done Snow!

I don't suppose you met him in a pub, after he'd fallen off a horse, down a cliff and landed in a tree!?

Australians wouldn't give a Castlemaine XXXX for anything else..?

No BD, I did not pull him out of a tree.

I met him in 1997 when He and Zina (his wife) came looking for someone to build them a UAV.

That began a long and happy association which included a trip to the UK and America, a serious learning curve and the start of the UAV section of my career.

The photo attached was taken from a small UAV Zina, Snow and I took on a demo to Farnborough Airport UK in 2004. It was quite a thrill flying on such an historic Airport let me tell you and all under Air Traffic Control.

All in all a very fruitful association which continues to this day.   Big Grin

Howdy Boys,

Sorry about the long quiet period.

Christmas is coming and so are my Daughter and Granddaughter (from Western Australia) so I have been very busy putting up Christmas lights and decorations and preparing the house for the  royal visit.

This is a once a year event and pretty special for us.

So please be patient for all good things come to those who wait.  Big Grin
