Thanks Marty for your kind offer.

I used Eagle Tree stuff in my good old days and it always did the job.

I will look into it shortly. I will be back on the quad stuff next week so things should settle down then.

Went for my first drive behind the wheel today. Felt great. Three weeks until I am back at the gym.

Can't wait.

Howdy Boys I am back sadly with my old problem.

Cannot communicate with the Naza M configurator (or whatever it is called.)

I followed the video supplied closely and I have established via the bright orange light that I am using the correct port number.

As you can see from the attached photo I have successfully installed the V2.2 driver.

Still cannot connect.   Angry

Any hints welcome.

Isn't nice to have me back worrying the daylights out of you all !!   Big Grin

Yep, it's there. Have you tried just right-clicking on the com port and reloading it?

BTW KK, I've got a complete Vector system that I won't be using. I'll let it go for cheap if you're interested.

Thanks for your kind offer Reno. I am just taking a break at the moment.

I feel completely frustrated with this project. It is by far the most difficult and frustrating job I have ever undertaken and I have not got to the hard part yet.

I still cannot communicate with the Naza and I am at a loss as to what to do next.

This all started when I tried to install firmware V4.04. My main fear is that I may have installed that firmware but I cannot check to confirm that due to lack of comms.

At the moment I am using configurator V2.20 and driver V2.20 on my computer. I cannot see any older versions on the DJI site to go back to.

Anyway I will consider your offer carefully Reno and thanks once again.

Regards,

KK

Reno, I downloaded the Vector manual this morning (all 120 pages of it) and scanned it quickly.

I must say it is a very impressive looking system but will I live long enough to learn such a complex system?

I was stunned at the versatility of this system. It is by far the most comprehensive system I have yet encountered.

What sort of money are you looking at?

I am completely mysterfied with the Naza. I have tried all I know and I still cannot connect with the Assistant.

I am very wary of flying Wooden It at the moment as I am not sure what firmware is installed.

So until I can communicate with the assistant I am stuck.

One thing with the Vector, there is a warning about large heavy quads. They say not above 650mm. Wooden It measures 670mm across the largest diagonal.

So where to from here?

There is something that I noticed on the DJI site today.

The Assistant 2.4 now has firmware 4.06 associated with it. Anyone know about the 4.06 version firmware for the Naza M lite?

Howdy Boys,

A bit of good news. She who must be obeyed (who was once a nurse) has given me the green light to start lifting Wooden It and carting it around the back yard. As you can imagine SWMBO kept me of a fairly tight leash during the past 2.5 weeks but thankfully I have been so well behaved during that time I earned some good behaviour points and an early release.

Sooooo... despite not being able to connect to the computer I went ahead and test flew it in my backyard.

However I proceeded with great care until I was sure that all was working well.

To begin and before I flew I stripped every bit of excess weight from IT and I had the best and smoothest flight yet.

I am off to the farm this afternoon and my main aim is to learn to move IT around the sky and also to do some video work in order to get some higher altitude shots of the farm.

I am finished with the heavy lifting thing as I have achieved what I aimed for there.

Now to learn to really fly old Wooden It.

Will I be successful? Stay tuned as further developments await.   Rolleyes

Tuesday morning, Joadja NSW and down on the farm.

Best flight ever.

Very stable and finally ventured above 30mm altitude.

Probably about 60 m and a little bit spooky seeing poor old Wooden IT so high after all the trials and tribulations.

Getting rid of all the excess weight did wonders for the flying characteristics.

2kg situated 30 cm below the rotor plane had a serious pendulum effect which poor old Naza M had to compensate for.

Anyway I finally feel as if I am making progress.

Whooppee!!   Big Grin

The continuing saga of poor old KK and his evil Quad.

The very next flight yesterday after that nice flight I lost control and had a serious crash.

I completely tore off a motor pylon and broke all four props in the crash as it tumbled along the ground.

I spent all day cursing myself for stupid flying as i was sure it was a flying error.

Anyway after a day of hating myself I raced into town (30 minute drive) to the local model train shop which from past experience sells expoxy and fibre glass tape. A quick cappacino while I was in there and I was ready for an all night repair session which it turns out was very successful.

Back to the paddock this morning with a new set of props and bingo back into the air.

HOWEVER!! It turns out that when I apply yaw things go very badly wrong. IT starts to rock badly and I almost feel yaw appears to be working either in the opposite direction or not at all. Sadly I cannot hold yaw long enough to see what is actually happening.

So it was when I applied yaw yesterday that I lost control mainly because I was not expecting a problem. This morning I was hyper alert to any problems.

At least that cleared my mind of self doubt but because I still cannot connect  to the Naza I cannot see what is going on.   Angry

What do I have planned for the rest of the day? A seesion on trying to get that silly FC to talk to my computer.

UGH!!  This is meant to be fun..........some fun.   Cry

Back home after several more flights this morning.

I improved things in regards to the yaw problem by dropping the end points on the TX to the minimum required to arm (92%)

On the two final flights as long as I did not touch yaw the Quad flew very smoothly indeed.

What I did start to suspect however is that if I dropped the Quad on the ground with a jolt it upset the yaw sensor and that is when the yaw became a problem. On one occassion and only one I saw the two right hand props speed up but the two left hand props did not change. This caused the Quad to start to roll to the left. Chopping the throttle was the only response left to me hence the first hard jolt.

When the flight began after resetting the FC yaw worked well but after I dumped IT on the ground a bit hard that is when I feel yaw started to misbehave.

Just as I was about to confirm this the wind blew up and that was the end of flying for this week.

So I am afraid I am starting to lose a bit of confidence in the Naza. To be fair it has had a hard life and I still cannot connect to the computer so I have no idea what is going on in that FC.

At this stage I beginning to think that I might try my new Hero with the Naze firmware just as a matter of interest.

I have come to the conclusion that there is very little I can do to save the Naza M.

I have tried everything I know to connect it to my computer with no luck.

I checked on the Hero today and I can reflash it with iNav firmware so I think that is the way I will go next.

I am still very interested in the Eagletree but I need to do more reading.

So that is where I am at. Very messy I am afraid and quite disappointing really.

But that is how life goes sometimes so you just have to make the best of what is available.
