Hacking Trainer Plug to USB for Sim
#1
Hey guys, I wanna splice a trainer port cable to a USB connector so I can use my radio in a sim.

Can I confirm I just need to connect the +5V, DATA+, and GND from the USB ...

... to the +V (pin 4), signal IN (pin 6), and ground (pin 2), respectively?

So ... yea ... FYI ... this doesn't work lol.   ROFL

I had tried just hooking up one of the USB data wires to the single signal wire on the trainer port.  No dice.  I suspect there's additional electronics in the USB adapters you see online.  Going to look for a proper trainer port to USB adapter.  I'm just glad I didn't fry my radio lol.

Have you seen this? https://www.banggood.com/Upgrade-USB-Don...rehouse=CN

Can be wireless using a ppm rx or can hook to trainer port with included cables (not sure about futaba trainer port, but you could probably tell from photos). Anyway, not a huge investment to try...

Thanks scotty. I got another one like that from Amazon (effortless returns) but it uses the trainer port rather than the servo connector to connect to USB. If that doesn't work, I'll return it and try the one you linked.

I think this one has both.  Direct cable-connect through the trainer port, OR wireless connect with a PPM Rx connected to the servo connector.  (I love my XSR-Sim wireless for using simulators - no cable!)
