Goggles making me dizzy..
#1
Sad
Hey all!

I just received my Fatshark Recon V2 FPV goggles.. and I'm super bummed because I have to cross and refocus my eyes to see the screen properly..
I'm super dizzy after just using them for like 5 minutes.

I have 20/20 vision, so I'm not sure if it's just me or if this is normal?
I have had to adjust camera viewfinders and binoculars slightly differently than most people in the past..

Are there goggles that have complete adjustability?
I know some of the Fatshark goggles (and others as well) have the ability to scooch the screens around.. you think those would be helpful to me?

Thanks!

-Ross

Some people can't handle first person view and makes them dizzy.

It is not likely the goggles. For example some people can read in the car while others can't. Or play FPS shooter. I have no problem with either. But I know friends who get nauseated. You can continue trying and you can probably train yourself to lessen the nausea.

This part of your first post is what caught my eye, this isn't normal for most people who don't wear any corrective lenses.  Eachine makes a box goggle that is adjustable I believe, and they do have the inexpensive EV100 slimline goggles with adjustable focus.  In any case, your eyes should be fairly relaxed and easy to focus when everything is correct.  Box goggles also have a large FOV compared to slimline goggles, so that could be contributing to your dizzyness.

I think Sugs may be onto something.

If it turns out it is motion sickness, you may be able to reduce the sensation or stop it all together with medication. Meclizine, or Dramamine may help.

Try to sit down while flying that helps your brain from constant focus on your body.

I had the same could not stand and fly felt drunk all the time. But on seat all this gone away.and after while when your brain get use to FPV I start standing and after while I wasn't need a seet now I fly fine without a seat

I too use box goggles eachine vr006 (cheapest)
Initially i too was having dizziness and focusing problems.
I used faceplate of cheap vr goggles over the goggles. Which resolved all my issues.

the ev200d is adjustable in two axis. ( i think the ev100 is only adjustable on one axis??)
messuring your eyes quality, they should now how the goggle have to be for you, eyedistance.... or others - could be a reason.

you could try it with an additional faceplate, or more, this would be a simple reason, if the distance is your problem. i now someone fly with an additional 3dprint for more distance between eyes and display.

thanks for the reply!
I can read in the car and play FPS, so it may just be that I was standing and walking a little while wearing them

Thanks! Hopefully it doesn't come to this.. but we'll see!

This could definitely be it! rookie mistake, but I literally walked around my apartment with drone in hand and goggles on.
I can see how that would totally mess with my head.

I'll try sitting next time!

Yes, walking around with goggles on definitely isn't going to help and is a very bad idea from the point of view of your own safety Big Grin

It's the opposite.  EV100 has IPD and focal length adjustment.  EV200 only has IPD adjustment, but can use Fatshark diopters if necessary.

@rossmoney, you could try firing up the goggles and just hold them to your face then slowly pull them farther away to see if the image gets clearer at a certain point.

You need to sit down and not move you head when you are flying.

I had a similar issue with dizziness while learning Acro on a simulator. I could only do about 3 minutes at a time. Over a period of
about 3-4 weeks or so I gradually increased my 'goggle time' until I didn't get dizzy.
Other posts suggest to sit down. YES YES YES, sit down or at the very least lean against something so you will not move.

As far as needing to refocus... I think that will need to be determined by you and whatever goggles you have. I started with the box goggles
and could not focus (i wear reading glasses) because my glasses would not fit in the goggles. After some DIY fixes (mounting magnifiying lens from
a jewelers head set )I was able to use the box goggles. Thankfully for me they stopped working which gave me a reason to go buy Fatsharks which
worked very good for me out of the box.

Good luck.

Thanks for taking the time!
I’m thinking of just taking a huge plunge and getting the HDO’s to future proof myself. Thanks for the tips!

Good luck.
