Expo in sim....
#1
Hey

I have been using FPVfreerider which is great with my Taranis as I setup a little expo on the transmitter. I would like to use my Turnigy Evolution but as it doesn't have expo although it is flyable it's just not fun... a little too twitchy !

So which sim would you guys recommend, that I can use with the Evolution and that I'll be able add in a little expo with?

Thanks guys !!

One of the sims below should suit your needs as they allow you to set up expo in the software instead of needing to do it on the controller.

VelociDrone
This uses real Betaflight source code for its flight physics (which is why it is reportedly so realistic) and as such it allows you to configure the PIDS exactly as you would in Betaflight Configurator on a real quad. You can run VelociDrone on a fairly lowish spec PC without too many issues although you may need to be a bit patient waiting for some of the screens to load.

Liftoff
This is also a fairly decent sim although it doesn't use the Betaflight source code but it does have Betaflight-like settings to configure some of the flight physics. Keep in mind that you need a fairly decent PC and graphics card to run Liftoff.

FPV Air 2
I've not tried this one but it gets good reviews for a cheap $5 sim and is supposed to feel fairly realistic. It also uses Betaflight-like PID configuration although I don't believe it's been written using actual Betaflight source code.

No probs Smile

With VelociDrone you get a 3-day free trial although you only get to fly the QQ190 quad in the Football Stadium so it's pretty limited, but it will give you an idea before you decide to spend $20. Be warned that it can take quite a long time to download, especially if you're outside the UK (which is where their servers are located).

Liftoff don't offer a free trial, however they did have a free weekend trial at the beginning of November where you got full unrestricted use of the sim for the whole weekend but I've not seen them do that again and I don't know if it's something they plan on doing again in the future. It's currently on sale at 20% discount, so $16 instead of the usual $20. I don't know when the sale ends but at a guess probably some time just after Christmas. Remember that you need a decent processor and graphics card to run it.

There is no free trial for FPV Air 2 but with it only being $5 it might be worth a punt. The only real downside is limited scenes/tracks. You can buy add-on tracks but that just starts bumping the cost up to almost the same as VelociDrone and Liftoff which are both currently rated as the top two best sims.
