3 23-Oct-2023, 09:59 PM (This post was last modified: 23-Oct-2023, 10:17 PM by husafreak.) New to ExpressLRS, got a Radiometer Boxer and updated its ExpressLRS and the Lua script. 3.3.0 now. Also got a BetaFPV HX115SE 2023 toothpick with SPI ELRS Rx. I cannot get the Tx and RX to bind. Watched hours of videos and Beta website instructions, Joshua, Oscar, etc. Tried using passphrase, nothing, bind via Betaflight Config Rx page, nothing, Pressing bind button on FC gets a rapid flasher but then hitting bind in Boxer tools ExpressLRS it says its binding but nothing at Rx, lights keep flashing. I tried all the different packet rates. I tried to flash the FC to Betaflight 4.4 but it says failure to connect., I don't know if I have to hold the FC bind button on flash to do this or not. Quad is showing up in Betaflight so the FC seems fine. I changed settings in the Tx to satisfy BetaFPV Rx frequency requirements. Always tough with new stuff you've never used before.

3 OK, after flashing the FC to BETAFPVF4SX1280 4.4.2 I was able to bind via Betaflight Configurator. Whew! Surprised I needed to Flash the FC on a brand new quad/Tx combo, welcome to ELRS I guess.

786 Betaflight 4.3.x has ExpressLRS 2.x baked into it for SPI receivers, while Betaflight 4.4.x has ExpressLRS 3.x baked into it.
ExpressLRS 2.x (on the FC) and ExpressLRS 3.x (on the transmitter) aren't compatible with each other. Both need to be on the same major ELRS version.

3 Could I have seen on Betaflight somewhere what version I had? When I went to the firmware tab it just offered 4.4.2 so I went with it. I don't know what the HX115SE 2023 shipped with.

3 Thanks, I did read those Docs linked. It was helpful because after following each procedure for binding without success I moved on and refreshed the board. Worked. But would have been easier if Betaflight showed the version on the board initially. I had read and seen on YT vids that the biggest problem with ELRS was peeps having trouble binding it so I didn't want to jump right into re flashing.
