Drone looses control
#1
Hey guys,

Having an issue with my first build, The drone seems to freak out and lose control during a flip/roll and then oddly sometimes when I arm the quad it again freaks out.

I have attached the logs below
 - Log 1 - 7: Arms and Disarms showing the quad freaking out
 - Log 8: This is a longer flight quad where the issue of losing control happens multiple times (but again not every time) the first instance is ~35 seconds in when trying to perform a front roll.

You can see I do a couple of flips and it is fine but other times it is not

Things I have checked
- Motor Direction
- Airmode is on
- all bolts are tight
- Props are on tight
- nothing hitting motor windings

Here is a snapshot of one of the problem areas

Could be a desync which could be a bad ESC. Does it always dip to one side before it goes down? If it does, then swap the motor with a different one to see if the problem moves. If it moves, it's the motor. If it's still dipping in the same area, I'd suspect the ESC is acting up.

You could also do a motor test -- PROPS OFF -- on the bench while it's plugged into the PC. That will bypass the flight controller and should help you separate the issue from a software thing. If you get a desync or strange behavior while ramping the motors up -- that again would point to either an ESC issue or a bad motor -- in which case you'd swap the motor to a different pad to see if the problem moves.

If you don't see any issue during these tests then it could be a betaflight problem, but that doesn't seem likely since the quad otherwise flies and takes off okay. So I would do the hardware troubleshooting first.

Thanks, Matty,

I have resoldered the XT60 and the Cap currently and reflashed all firmware.

I will be taking it out for a test flight hopefully soon and I will check if I can identify if it is on one side, I think it is normally the right side that dips but will need to confirm that.
I will come back with the results.

Thanks

what kind of quad is it?

for a desycn issue, decrease startippower, increse motortiming and set demag compensation to high.
make sure there is no vibrations by frame the frame, check or improve the mounting not too soft, not hardmounted. add a capacitator if bot already there.

It's a 5inch quad props in with a speedybee F405 v3 FC and ESC Stack

FC is flashed with BetaFlight 4.4.2
ESC is flashed with Bluejay J-H-50 0.18 @ 48kHz

I will check the startup power and play around with it.

change to 24khz frequency would be my first step for that issue than

well think we can close this thread went out to test happened again and snapped an arm ripped various motor wires and ripped pads off the ESC.

Getting some replacement parts and giving it another go but would practically be a new drone at that point
