0 12-Jul-2018, 02:29 PM (This post was last modified: 12-Jul-2018, 02:30 PM by GoodLizWiz.) Hi!
I was testing my motors in betaflight when suddenly my FC disconnected. LEDs all turned off and PC no longer detects it at all when I plug it in. I've tried holding the boot loader button while plugging it in, but it does not seem to help...
My receiver does get power whenever I plug in the USB or a battery, and the ESCs do power on whenever I plug in a battery. This seems to indicate that the PDB circuit is functioning as it should.
Didn't make any sound or smell of smoke or anything, which I may have not been able to hear/smell if it was a very low-current joint that broke or something like that.
Any ideas on a fix or what this could be? Should I just order a new one and toss this one in the bin?
Thanks

388 Check USB port to make sure the pins have not lifted. Measure the 3.3v to see if you are getting any voltage. Are the led status light coming on? Long shot, but have you tried a different cable?

0 USB pins look fine. I did try a different cable, no LEDs light up at all. The LEDs don't turn on even if I power it up with a battery.
It is probably dead TBH, I just want to know what caused it as I don't want to buy a replacement and have it happen again for the same reason.
I was running this one particular motor on 100% throttle. I think the motor was damaged in a crash, it made an awful lot of noise at full throttle, so I'm thinking the bearings are busted.
Either way, I'll order a new one, hopefully I can find out what the issue is before replacing it.

51 I killed an F4S with a short (soldering tired, without my glasses on, after too much coffee) and the ESCs and RX still powered up then. I get the impression that the board is powered from the same rail as the VTX and cam because they were bother not getting any juice. It does feel like it's prone to dirty power, which you could well get from a grindy motor. I was getting camera brown-outs until I started powering my VTX from the battery and the cam from the VTX 5V out, but I still worry about the FC itself. Putting caps on it this weekend!
Honestly? If you can afford it then I'd swap it out. When I don't trust my gear (especially the FC!) then I fly like a 90 year old anyway, and who wants to do that?

388 If you check the 3.3v and don't get it, then your LDO might be burnt. That is likely the easier thing to replace. But it might not be the only thing that burnt.

11 I had one do the same thing just roll over and die.
I was going to try using a 4n1 5v bec to power it up but even not working if I plug it into usb one of the power regulators gets way too hot in seconds so I don’t want to blow the bec in 4n1 so I just replaced it.
