So the spare parts from the old Lizard are restless it would seem. I found a little 110mm frame, 2.5mm carbon fiber for under $10 and that was it... So I have this generic frame and 4 of the Eachine 1104 6000kv motors, so I soft mounted them to the frame. These are the same motors that come stock on the Lizard. They are good enough to start the project! I have a Minicube from a broken Lizard as well. The Rx is fine, as is the 10 amp 4 in 1 PDB/ESC board. The issue is in the original F3 FC is dead. I bought it as scrap from someone who destroyed their Lizard, so it was cheap enough. I have not had an issue with the F3 flight controller that runs Lizzy, but in shopping for a replacement for the scrap cube, noted the cost is the same for the F3 or F4 version. Why not go with the F4? Are they essentially interchangeable? I have an EF-02 camera mounted in the bracket right now, but it is going to have a beautiful RunCam Micro Swift with VTX-03 when it goes aloft. I am looking forward to experiencing this little drone airborne! I am fine with the Lizard parts and 10 amp ESC for right now. First upgrade will be a 15 amp rated ESC board and then some hotter motors. All of that is off in the future for now though. Just getting it aloft will feel awesome! Oooops...forgot to mention, will likely run 2" props on the 1104's. If I shift to 1105 or 1106, I would consider 3" props. So, build so far: 110mm CF "X" style FPV frame Eachine 1104-6000kv purple motors Eachine Minicube 10A 4-in-1 PDB/ESC Eachine Minicube FrSky Rx Coming too get it in the air: Eachine Minicube F4 flight controller RunCam Micro Swift Eachine VTX-03 SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! I don't know if you'll be able to use 3" props though, better measure first. My 3" Japalura has less than 1mm clearance and it's a 130mm frame. It will be interesting to get it airborne and feel my way through tuning. I was measuring and it would be maxed at a 2.5" prop if they existed. An aggressive 2" prop will be happy with the right motors. For now, what it has will be fine for some fun! SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! (Pitch-Roll-Yaw carries them near you: https://www.pitchrollyaw.net/rotorx-rx2535-quad-smoke - 8 pairs for 8 bucks). These fit the 110x series of brushless motors and come with mounting screws. Another cool thing about these is each prop "splits" into two halves so you can use them as bi-blades as well. And RotorX recently beefed up the hub so they work better - the version I got was susceptible to hub cracking on the lower half if the top half was tightened too tight. I'm anxious to get some of these new ones. (I use the old ones on one of my micros and I think they're great.) I think one of the FCs for the minis is better on the F3 because of inverters for the Rx but I don't know if that applies for these ones or not or if you're even trying to use smart port telemetry. Other than that I haven't heard a ton of reason to go with one or the other except on specific boards. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 3,288 Threads: 129 Likes Received: 2,740 in 1,644 posts Likes Given: 2,969 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 65 Thanx SloScotty! I ordered some up and look forward to being able to test them. I have a good number of props here for the Lizard that were experimentation, so I think I will be able to feel out the best for the way I fly Thank you Carl! I was reading up on the inverted Rx information. Not sure if it will make a difference in this build. I have a current working Micro with an F3 controller, so I will be able to work up some comparison. I should have the FC in a week or so as it is coming out of the US warehouse. They usually ship within a day or two and there is only a three day travel for the package. The camera and VTX are on a slowish sort of boat though. Not any big deal. I have the EF-02 that is wired up now, so for testing it has eyes! SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! It looks like I'll have the flight controller, camera and VTX tomorrow, but the motors haven't even started their journey yet and if they don't start their journey today, they won't be here before the weekend. Motors in the 1 parcel, replacement frame in the other. One or 2 other bits as well, but its the motors and chassis I need to get back in the air... Perpetually doomed to an existence of anticipation!!! Well, got the controller only to find one of the ESC channels toast. Spare parts for a reason it would seem. Seriously feeling like putting this Rx and FC in a safe spot as spares, I know they are good and getting a new stack. I intend to stick with 3S and 1104 6000kv motors for now, but thinking a 15 amp stack anyway. With a complete stack, it is just a matter of soldering on the motors. There may be another motor output you can use or some other function that can be re-mapped to function as a motor output instead. • Posts: 3,288 Threads: 129 Likes Received: 2,740 in 1,644 posts Likes Given: 2,969 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 65 20-Sep-2017, 01:25 AM (This post was last modified: 20-Sep-2017, 01:28 AM by kaitylynn.) The KT-110 has taken to the air and now has 4 packs downed...oh how awesome is that! It is basically the stock Lizard 95 stack on a 110mm frame. Have not tuned it at all, but it is flying ok. I will start to learn my PIDs now and get it dialed in for me. I have ordered another Lizard Stack for Lizzy. So the 110mm frame is about 5 grams heavier at 118 grams (as built). It definitely flies different despite everything else being the same. I guess I felt like it would probably not be too different, but the slightly longer arms do change things a lot. I also am trying out the GemFan Hulkie 2040 props. The were not impressive on Lizzy, at least for me. Seemed to be too much bite and it felt weird to fly with them. On KT, they are perfect! The props int eh picture are HQProp 1.9x3x3...that are still my favorites! SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! Landed with 10.8 vdc and a cool pack. Motors are cool as well. Flying was a mix of cruising around the neighborhood and some quick laps around the yard. No tricking yet, but that will come. It does not have the punch of Lizzy, it does fly true and fast. SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! It is lacking OSD for right now, but that is just hooking up the wiring. Easy enough, just need to land it long enough to make it happen. It is amazing how much better the RunCam is over the little Eachine. I bought it with the 2.1mm lens to try it out and it is weird...almost feels like my head swims at certain angles. I will get used to it or maybe shift it to a 2.3mm lens. The extra FOV is nice, the distortion is weird. I have the VTX held on by a few rubber bands and am not sure how I will finally '"hard mount" it. For now, I can notice a difference between 25mw and 50mw. No breakup in the yard at all!
