Armattan Tadpole 3"
#1
Thinking about building a 3" basher. I pretty much want it to fly like my 5" but with more accessibility for places to fly. Any thoughts on the configuration? I know the 45A board is overkill, but you know, Go big or ...

Tadpole 3 inch
TBS UNIFY PRO32 NANO 5G8 V1.1
Pyrodrone Micro-T 915MHz RX Antenna for TBS Crossfire NANO RX
TBS Crossfire Nano RX FPV LONG RANGE DRONE RECEIVER
HQ Prop T3X2 Bi-Blade (CHOOSE COLOR) OR

T-Motor F1404 Micro Long Range Motors 4600KV
HIFIONRC F7 2-6S AIO Whoop Flight Controller w/ 45A 4in1 ESC

Considering this FC instead, but it's only a few dollars cheaper so why not get the more powerful one?

The tadpole is a fine 3” frame and the perfect backyard quad. As for it being a basher, she’s a little lightweight for that. I have a 3” tadpole and those 850mah tattus and I can tell you now mate that the 850’s are kinda too fat to mount topside on this frame. 300mah to 450mah 3s is prolly the sweet spot for size versus flight time.

If you want a basher with that size battery I would look at a heavier 3” frame.

I would agree the tadpole frames are a bit lightweight for bashing. I did break both a 2.5" and a 3" frame last summer. I ended up using the rear arms of the broken frames to reinforce the front arms on the replacements. The reinforced frames held up great but eventually the belly of the bottom late got very weak and flexible.  I really like the look of these and was hoping Armattan would make a thicker plate but they don't. With my newest build I decided to double up the bottom plate!  It adds 11 grams to the build but I am loving the way it flies and should hold up very well.
I'm using similar motors to what you are thinking of using. I used 1404 4533KV Tiny turner motors from Five33 along with their 3.1 x 1.8 x 3 props. Crazy fast on 550mah 3s and insane on 550 mah 4s!

Thanks all! I'll tone down my batteries for the order I think. I'm really looking forward to building this.

@Therberg, do you have the STL files for those printed parts? What material are they?

Also, I should mention that I initially planned for the 850s because reddit appeared to think that the 4-650s sagged quite a bit? I've got 5 or 6 450mah 3s from my LarvaX, I'll try those too.

I appreciate your insight!

Anyone in the US near Denver? Wink

Yes! 2 programable leds with a buzzer. https://photos.app.goo.gl/qhAz5FxooViVG2RR8   [Image: ACtC-3cLjXTReEqsJ36qiX_gqYIIDXDdBL5tNoC9...authuser=0]

It's TPU and I ordered it from Brain3D and modified it. The part is for a Armattan Bobcat and I took a chance that it would fit the rear standoffs and it fits perfect!    https://www.brain3d.co/products/armattan...8544127063                                                                                                                                            [Image: image_dc3f7c8e-b4ec-4d54-8cc7-301efc3be0...1610999186]

Nice. It looks awesome.

Was hoping for an .stl to print, but I may have to order something-after a brief search there's nothing that looks quite like that. Probably need to do more digging, or design it myself.

PS, I have a printer (Prusa i3 MK3S, TPU dialed in, only one color right now tho) and would be happy to print things for folks provided cost for shipping and filament.

https://pyrodrone.com/products/diantone-...for-whoops    << this is only an F411 board with only 2 UARTS...Buy the HIFIONRC instead.

The F7 processors are much better than the F411 ones; better performance, more features, just better.

I would consider the GNB 4S 600 mAh 90C batteries. They are 26 grams lighter than the Tattu 4S 650 mAh for about the same performance, maybe better since they are quite a bit lighter.
