Antenna Selection -
#1
So after flying my beloved Lumenier Pagoda 2 antenna's for the last year and a half, I broke the last spare I had while flying The Japalura.  I was about to order another one, when I decided to try something a little different.

My Japalura is equipped with a Lumenier TX5GS that has an MMCX connector.  I have decided to simplify VTX setup and remove the MMCX to RP-SMA cable, opting for a straight MMCX connection.  I have chosen the Lumenier AXII.  I fly LHCP and will be coupling this with a LHCP Pagoda on my VRX.  Will be interesting to experience how this combination works out!

I am going to post how things work out here in a bit.  Received shipping confirmation already and should have the new antenna in about three days.

Have the Pagoda 2 on my goggles and the AXII on the quad.  I flew some test flight at 200mw around the yard and flew the street a few times.  This street is heavy covered by Oak trees and with my new combination, there was ZERO breakup.  I was chasing sunset, so only had a chance to fly out a single pack.  So good so far! Smile

Interesting! I´m thinking of replacing my u.fl - SMA adapter with a u.fl antenna but its so fragile.. if I had MMCX on my VTX like you I wouldn't hesitate! Smile

I'm using a Foxeer Lollipop MMCX straight into the VTX and it's been fine so far. It does make me a little nervous not having a pigtail, but I've had a few crashes with it with no problems so far, though.

The other issue is that the MMCX connector spins freely, so you can't use the antenna feed line (is that the right term?) to angle the antenna at all. I should probably find a better way to anchor it!

The ground is for dead people.

I had that issue with a pagoda antenna and had to use some heat shrink tube and a zip-tie to stop it from spinning.
