Have had the best luck with TrueRC's stuff so far. Lumenier AXII has been alright too.

I'm using a VAS Mad Mushroom on the goggles and Rush Cherry for the quad. They are pretty sweet. From the blurb it looks like TrueRC designed the Cherry and Lumenier builds it, FWIW. The Mad Mushroom was recommended by LemonyLeprosy (and it is good).

As already mentioned, TrueRC makes some of the best FPV antennas you can buy, as do VAS (Video Aerial Systems). You get what you pay for with antennas and you usually have to accept that you will be paying top dollar for TrueRC and VAS antennas.

I am ground based and need to be able to penatrate bushland.

I have found that using two VAS Crosshair Extreme on my monitor along with a VAS Ion on the car, give very good results. I also think the VTX plays a big part in it as well.
