Thought I killed ESC #1 on my 4 in 1. Replaced with new one, still shows dead ESC 1?

I had ESC #1 seem to die on my quad. BLHeliSuite showed that it was blank.

I bought a replacement, put it in today, but ESC 1 is still blank.

What could this mean?

Is this an AIO or a separate ESC?

If a separate ESC board it maybe related to the wiring harness between the FC and the ESC. Check the connectors.

Maybe your previous ESC was not dead if its a connection issue.

The reason why I am suggesting this is because BLHeli relies on Betaflght passthrough and simply will not detect an ESC if the signal is not detected.

If you're using an ESC-to-FC wiring harness then try tightening up the pins (see another post HERE for how to do that), otherwise try replacing the harness with a new one.

Thanks for the replies.

1. I have separate FC and ESC boards, not an AIO

2. I checked the wiring and everything is lined up right. I also checked continuity between the FC and ESC solder pads while the cable was plugged in between them and there is continuity for all the motor pads.

3. I'll try to tighten up the pins in the harness, though if I'm getting continuity between the pads on the FC and ESC, it should be connected correctly right?

Everything seems to be working except the one ESC/motor. Should I try directly soldering the wire for motor 3?

4. Nope, I didn't change anything in betaflight

Thx

seems hopeless if you have continuity Undecided
you can switch a cable in the harness to second your actual results of an esc issue.

… I would try direct soldering that particular esc/motor.. eliminating a “cable” issue. If the outcome is the same, you can try to “remap” that motor in the resources. If your fc only offers 4 motor outputs(pads) you can remap the LED pad (it has a “timer” -required for motors).
It’s not that hard..there maybe damage from the chip to the plug/pin that is not visible..
First make sure the esc and motor u are using is actually operating by installing it on a working pad….

Do you have another flight controller you could try the 4n1 ESC with?

1st thing to try is swap ESC.

It might be possible to remap the motor to another pad on your FC... like LED pad. Its possible the pad/pin is damaged.
