Tbs Mambo update to OpenTx ?
#1
I updated my mambo’s main firmware and noticed when I went to change models it was different. When you hold down the wheel it comes up with firmware version information not model select. Now I have to hit the home button and it’s there now. The jog wheel is reversed and so is the two knobs on the front.

Can someone confirm or am i smoking some good sh*% ?

I don't have a Mambo so I unfortunately can't help you physically diagnose the issue, but it would probably help if you specified what version of FreedomTX you updated to so that others know which version it is that might be problematic.

Did you try re-flashing the firmware or flashing back to a previous version? It's quite possible that the TBS developers have borked something in the latest release of the FreedomTX firmware.

Unfortunately TBS appear to be in breach of their open-source GPL-2.0 license obligations by not publicly sharing the code changes they have made for any recent releases of the FreedomTX firmware in their GitHub Repo, otherwise it would be possible to take a look at the code to figure out what changes had actually been made, or what new bugs had potentially been introduced. The last version published on their GitHub page is the 2.3.5 version from January 2020 (see HERE). I had a look through a number of the repo branches, but I can't see any code changes that are more recent than a couple of years ago, so they appear to be working on the source code in a private / restricted area which is in contravention of the GPL-2.0 licensing terms & conditions.

If you were on FreedomTX 1.39 then take note that another member on here has just reported that version has been pulled (see another post HERE), so it probably has some major bugs in it.

Yes sir. I posted on the Facebook forum and sure enough it was pulled for issue’s and backwards button function. Sad part was when I downgraded the firmware it lost all my model memory.

The fact that there is still no easy way to configure and backup/restore models and configuration settings on the TBS Tango 2 and TBS Mambo via companion software running on your computer is one of the biggest drawbacks of the TBS transmitters and it's what turned me away from potentially getting one. TBS promised that proper OpenTX was coming to the Tango 2 "soon" on the day that the Tango 2 was launched over 3 years ago, but there is unfortunately still no sign of it. I think TBS have now probably just given up on the whole idea and have resigned themselves to FreedomTX forever. It would however be nice if they at least developed compatible companion software for it.
