TBS FreedomTX v1.39 Mode switches messed up?
#1
So.. I was quite pleased to see signs of life from TBS by way of a software update for their radios, as it has been quite a while.
But.. It seems to have royally messed up the 3 position mode switches on my Tango 2? The release notes don't mention any kind of changed functionality here, nor have I seen anyone else mention an issue (update has been out a few days now) Is it just me? I re-installed the update, but the behaviour is the same. I can probably fix it by re-configuring the switches in betaflight or something, but clearly something has changed in the radio, and whatever it is, isn't immidietly obvious from the radios settings..

Does anyone else here have a clue what Trappy and his crew have done?  Whistling

Did you save and restore your models (on sd card) when you upgraded ? That one way to loose your settings if these get lost/overwritten etc.
p.s. have not updated myself yet. Only now i see there is an update for a few days ago.

I do have an old'ish backup that should do.. Also, I've not tried downgrading yet. So im sure its a mess I can get myself out of. I just wondered if there was a logical reason behind it, and why only I seem to have picked up on it so far  Huh
I'll poke about a bit more and report back later with any findings..  Thumbs Up

Oh dear.. Well whatever the issue was/is, I think I managed to make it worse. I downgraded back to V1.34 (the version I was previously using), and got a "Bad radio data" warning and all my models were gone  Huh
'Upgraded' to 1.39 again. Still no models. Check SD card data, models are there but don't show up in the radio still. Deleted models and put in the models from a backup and then get "Convert models sussess" warning (Not my typo, thats what it says!) But still no models show up. Ugh
Im pretty sure I got the "Sussess" warning thing the first time I 'upgraded' to 1.39 too. Im guessing the upgrade needs to convert/reformat the models for some reason, and they got corrupted?

I guess if I go back to 1.34 again, and put the old backup models back in, it may work? But im all out of patience for now, so will try that later. Grrhhrrrmmmpph!

Damn. Does not sound like fun.
Yeah if you have an old backup of your models , put the old software version on and then your old models its shoudl work.
p.s. make sure you do nice usb ejects as that can also corrupt these files when you copy them over . Had that a lot with the tango 2.

One issue i had at some point in the past when playing with backups etc was that my models where there but not in the tango 2. Then i checked and there is some little text file i believe its called models.txt and sits next to the radio.bin and it has the names of the active models in there. I manualy edited it (but you can of course also get it from your backup) and bam, my models where back.
As long as you never ever touch your actual backup files but make copied to the tango , you can always safely hack around untill you get it right.

^ Thanks for the input  Smile I did have a look at the text file thing, but no joy there either. I suspect my backup files are too old and not properly recognised by the later firmwares..?

Anyway, screw it. I'll probably waste less time just starting from scratch! All my models are set up exactly the same and only the trim settings differ, so it could be worse I suppose.

It's still somewhat nauseating though.....  Angry
