0 01-Oct-2016, 07:11 PM (This post was last modified: 01-Oct-2016, 07:16 PM by paulsmith.) Got new taranis plus, can't bind to D4r ii with internal xjt module but can bind with an external xjt module.
The taranis had no D8 option so I flashed it to a firmware that did. I think the internal xjt module does not have support for D series receivers without being flashed.
Flashing always fails when I try flashing the internal module directly from the taranis, no cable involved. Any ideas why I can't flash the internal xjt module?
And do I also need to flash the d4r ii with a ftdi to which firmware?

1 If you flash to a version that has the D series for d4r you then need to flash the d4r to a previous version too.
For example the eu version of the taranis firmware had the d16 removed. So you flash the non eu version but the d4r is still in eu firmware so it won't bind. Flash the non eu to the d4r and it will work
I have the opposite issue. I got my taranis from banggood so it's non eu but all rx I get from uk are eu firmware. So I flash them to non eu and they bind for me.
If you have opentx version 2.1 upwards you can flash using the telemetry port and to connector where your xjt is connected into. Just follow painless360 instructions and make sure the cable positive and negative are the right way round or u will fry it.
regarding D4R-II RX firmware, it depends what firmware you installed on the taranis. Eu or non eu? If TX is non-EU adn RX is also non-EU then no need to flash RX.

0 Its non EU but I think the xjt has the EU firmware on. So even though I can see d8 I can't bind.
What's puzzling me is I should be able to flash the xjt directly from the taranis, it looks like it's working then fails. I'm wondering if the internal xjt is fried.
