How you do that will depend on the flight control software / firmware you are using. Some FCs do not have “timers” on the 5-8 pads.. when I did that.. I either got 1servo and 3 motors to work or 4 motors and 0 servo .. I followed JBs video and used the LED pad .. no one could ever tell me how to identify if a pad has a “timer” on it.. Ive “seen” “timer” in the cli.. but have no idea how it applies Now this was on some older onmibuss f4 FCs 28-Jul-2022, 09:48 PM (This post was last modified: 28-Jul-2022, 10:12 PM by blackdrakedrones.) So, in the below picture, could I take the cable for the second set of motors and remove everything other than the ground/power/motor 5 wires and then solder them to the corresponding servo wires? 28-Jul-2022, 11:03 PM (28-Jul-2022, 09:46 PM)Rob Axel Wrote: Some FCs do not have “timers” on the 5-8 pads.. when I did that.. The following picture also came from ArduPilot regarding the flight controller so it seems like the mapping for servos is already there and just have to assign it? 28-Jul-2022, 11:07 PM (28-Jul-2022, 09:46 PM)Rob Axel Wrote: Some FCs do not have “timers” on the 5-8 pads.. when I did that.. G-G/Power-5v/signal-pad? 28-Jul-2022, 11:31 PM (28-Jul-2022, 09:48 PM)blackdrakedrones Wrote: So, in the below picture, could I take the cable for the second set of motors and remove everything other than the ground/power/motor 5 wires and then solder them to the corresponding servo wires? Yes, exactly as you have described. Just wire the servo signal wires to where the motor ESC signal wires connect to in that socket. 29-Jul-2022, 12:24 AM (28-Jul-2022, 09:48 PM)blackdrakedrones Wrote: So, in the below picture, could I take the cable for the second set of motors and remove everything other than the ground/power/motor 5 wires and then solder them to the corresponding servo wires? Note that power here is Vbat, so make sure your servos can handle the voltage. 29-Jul-2022, 12:36 AM (This post was last modified: 29-Jul-2022, 12:37 AM by blackdrakedrones.) I didn't notice the vBat like someone else did. The battery voltage far surpasses the voltage allowed by the servo, so should I just wire the servo signal wire to the connector at the socket and then solder the ground and power to pads on the FC? I’m a noob..have no experience with inav. 29-Jul-2022, 12:41 AM (This post was last modified: 29-Jul-2022, 12:43 AM by SnowLeopardFPV.) You mentioned power-5v in your first post so I made an assumption that you'd already realised you needed to connect the servos power connection to a 5V source. Assuming your servos are 5V, connect them to a 5V power source. Either the 5V pads on the FC or an external 5V BEC. Keep in mind that the onboard 5V regulator of the Kakute H7 is rated at 2A so as long as everything connected to the 5V pads on the FC doesn't exceed a total current draw of 2A you can make use of the 5V pads on the FC. 29-Jul-2022, 12:49 AM (29-Jul-2022, 12:41 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: You mentioned power-5v in your first post so I made an assumption that you'd already realised you needed to connect the servos power connection to a 5V source. It will be an air unit or vista, receiver, and the servo motor. Would it be easier/better to just do an external BEC? 29-Jul-2022, 12:52 AM (29-Jul-2022, 12:41 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: You mentioned power-5v in your first post so I made an assumption that you'd already realised you needed to connect the servos power connection to a 5V source. My air unit or vista will be attached to the 9V BEC, does that free up the whole 2A of the 5V BEC? 29-Jul-2022, 01:22 AM Check the specifications of the servos to see what their normal current draw is under load. It's unlikely that all 4 servos will be operating under maximum load at the same time but you can probably make a rough guestimate how much current they will draw under normal conditions. If it looks like all 4 servos might draw close to or more than the 2A rating of the FC onboard 5V BEC then use an external 3A or 5A 5V BEC instead. 29-Jul-2022, 01:29 AM (29-Jul-2022, 01:22 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: Check the specifications of the servos to see what their normal current draw is under load. I'm only adding 1 servo and it won't be used 95% of the time, usually it will be used for about 30 seconds at a time and ideally only twice each time the drone goes out. |
